Shazam Panel At DC FanDome: Time & How To Watch

The panel for Shazam! at the DC FanDome event promises a cast reunion and a few surprises. Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! was a surprise hit when it was released in 2019, with critics praising the film for its humor and heart. The film’s cast was also celebrated for delivering compelling performances in one of the DCEU’s lighter installments.

Shazam! is one of the many attractions to the star-studded DC FanDome this year. Kicking off on August 22, it’ll include panels for The Batman, Black Adam, The Suicide Squad, and even the Arrowverse. In terms of the panel focused on Shazam!, here’s everything we know about it and how you can watch it live.

The DC FanDome schedule indicates that the Shazam! panel will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at 7:40 pm Eastern Time. Gino Quillamor will host it. For those interested in live streaming the panel, all that’s required is to create a free account at schedule.dcfandome.com. After signing up, fans will find the Shazam! panel under the “Hall of Heroes” tab. To help DC devotees who will be tuning in for multiple panels, there’s an option to add the Shazam! panel to your schedule. There will also be an encore presentation of the panel the following day.

While the description for the panel makes clear that the cast can’t reveal anything regarding the sequel’s script, it does tease that the panel will get to speak in general terms about the focus of Shazam 2. It’s also teased that a few surprise guests might pop up, which could be a reference to that now-infamous Superman cameo, which arrived at the end of the first film. Thanks to an Instagram post by Zachary Levi, it’s known that he’ll be joined in the panel by his co-stars Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Megan Good, and Adam Brody, among others. Director David F. Sandberg will, of course, be a part of the discussion as well. The cast will likely share some exciting stories from their time on filming, but there’s a chance that fans might get some hints about the shape of the sequel as well.

With the apparent exception of Levi, none of the adult superheroes get a lot of screen time in Shazam!. This was done to maintain the surprise in the third act, which features all of Billy’s step-siblings turning into their ideal grown-up selves. It’s possible that, during this panel, the actors will shed some light on whether their roles will be increased in Shazam 2. But even if everyone involved manages to remain strictly tight-lipped about story developments, it will be nice for fans to spend some time in the lighthearted world that Sandberg brought to life with the first film in 2019. That’s particularly true since the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the sequel. Originally scheduled to hit theaters in April 2022, Shazam 2 was recently pushed back even further.
