Sex And The City Revival: Who Should Be Cast To Play Brady

Sex And The City Revival: Who Should Be Cast To Play Brady

Fans are ecstatic about the recently announced Sex and the City revival titled And Just Like That... Although it’s already been announced that the show won’t feature fan-favorite Samantha Jones, viewers can expect to see several prominent faces from the original show returning – and hopefully some iconic side characters too.

But who will play Brady Hobbes, Miranda and Steve’s only child born in Season 4’s “I Heart NY” in 2002? While casting decisions other than the central trio have yet to be announced, there is no shortage of talented young actors who could embody the role of Miranda and Steve’s now-19-year-old son.

Charlie Plummer

Sex And The City Revival: Who Should Be Cast To Play Brady

This young actor played Miles ‘Pudge’ Halter in Hulu’s 2019 miniseries adaptation of John Green’s young adult novel, Looking for Alaska. He also starred in the A24 racehorse drama, Lean on Pete, and in 2020’s lauded high school romance, Words On Bathroom Walls. But his most exciting role is in Roland Emmerich’s upcoming space disaster film, Moonfall, opposite Stanley Tucci and Halle Berry.

With his career on the rise and a string of high school hits, Plummer would be a perfect fit as a contemporary Brady Hobbes navigating the difficulties of teenagers in the 2020s.

Miles Heizer

Miles Heizer

Miles Heizer has appeared in some acclaimed teen film and TV in recent memory, with a role on Parenthood that ended in 2015 and, more recently, a turn in the 2018 romantic comedy Love, Simon, alongside Nick Robinson. But most TV fans probably know Heizer for his starring role in Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why.

Heizer plays Alex Standall, one of the central characters and a friend of Hannah Baker’s who is tormented by a dark secret. It would be fascinating to see Heizer pivot to playing the lucky child of an altogether awesome mom.

Lucas Jade Zumann

Lucas Jade Zumann

Lucas Jade Zumann enjoyed a varied career on both the small and big screen. He made his silver-screen debut with a minor role on Netflix’s Sense8 in 2015 before starring in the Blumhouse film, Sinister 2. But Netflix fans may also recognize him as Gilbert Blythe, Anne’s main love interest, on the Anne of Green Gables TV adaptation Anne with an E.

Although his most prominent role is a period piece, he’d have no trouble keeping up with New York City’s quippiest 21st-century moms. Viewers can look out for Zumann alongside rising star Taylor Russell in 2021’s Dr. Bird’s Advice For Sad Poets.

Wyatt Oleff

Wyatt Oleff

This Chicago-born actor has made guest appearances in hit shows such as Once Upon a Time and has taken on bigger roles in films like It and Guardians of the Galaxy. But one of his most recent roles is on I Am Not Okay With This, which features Sophia Lillis as Sydney, a teenage girl struggling to handle her burgeoning superpowers.

Oleff stars as Stanley Barber, a wisecracking friend, neighbor, and temporary love interest to Sydney. With a sharp sense of humor and an even sharper sense of style on that show, Oleff would excel as the son of a fashionista.

Finn Wolfhard

Finn Wolfhard

Canadian actor Finn Wolfhard is perhaps best known for starring in Netflix’s spooky series Stranger Things as Mike Wheeler, a boy who sets out along with some pals to locate a missing friend. Other high-profile appearances for the young star include ItIt Chapter Two, and the upcoming 2021 release, Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

With a well-established horror pedigree, Wolfhard clearly has the dramatic chops to go toe-to-toe with TV’s biggest drama queens.

Jack Dylan Grazer

Jack Dylan Grazer

Jack Dylan Grazer stars in We Are Who We Are, the 2020 TV series co-created by Call Me By Your Name director, Luca Guadagnino, as Fraser Wilson, a moody American teen living on a military base in Italy. The young actor also boasts serious film chops, with a major role in the 2019’s DCEU hit Shazam! as protagonist Billy Batson’s foster brother and best friend, Freddy.

With recent high-profile experience acting opposite Chloe Sevigny in a family drama TV series, Grazer would be a natural at portraying the Hobbes-Bradys’ family drama.

Ty Simpkins

Ty Simpkins

Ty Simpkins has already had an amazing film career at the young age of 20. Fans of the Insidious trilogy will recognize Simpkins as the Lamberts’ son, Daniel, a boy at the center of his family’s mysterious haunting.

Since that iconic role, Simpkins has appeared in blockbusters like Iron Man 3 (and Avengers: Endgame) and Jurassic World, as Gray Mitchell, one of two siblings caught up in a disastrous turn of events at a dinosaur park. With a history of acting opposite huge stars, Simpkins would fit right in on the set of And Just Like That...

Jacob Bertrand

Jacob Bertrand - Cobra Kai

Fans of the Karate Kid reboot, Cobra Kai, recognize Jacob Bertrand as Eli ‘Hawk’ Moskowitz, one of the most formidable students at the Cobra Kai dojo. He also had a minor role in the 2018 film, Ready Player One.

Bertrand is set to appear alongside Joel McHale in the upcoming sci-fi TV series Black Box about teens who discover a broken time machine. With his experience playing a troubled bad boy, he could embody the rebellious spirit that teens so often have and pose quite the challenge to “nice guy,” Steve.

Noah Jupe

Noah Jupe

Noah Jupe is a bonafide star, with roles in hit films such as Ford v. Ferrari, A Quiet Place, and Wonder. HBO fans may also recognize Jupe as Henry Fraser in The Undoing, the network’s 2020 miniseries about the high-profile murder of a mom at an exclusive Manhattan private school.

The young actor already has extensive experience portraying the only son in a dysfunctional family, although hopefully, a role in And Just Like That… would find Jupe playing the son of a very happy Miranda and Steve.

Joshua Bassett

Joshua Bassett

This musical theater vet starred in Disney’s Stuck in the Middle and had a guest appearance on Grey’s Anatomy in 2019 as Linus, a young overdose survivor, but his most high-profile role in recent years is in High School Musical: The Musical – The Series.

Bassett plays Ricky Bowen, a junior and avid skateboarder with attitude who tries to get his girlfriend back by auditioning to play Troy Bolton in his school’s musical production. With reddish hair and charm to match, Bassett would fit right in with Sex and the City‘s queen of snark, Miranda.
