Sea Of Thieves Trailer Celebrates 1,000 Days Since Launch

Rare is celebrating 1,000 days of Sea of Thieves with a dedicated festive trailer and rewards for players. The celebration comes just a few days after the previous generous giveaway within the Festival of Giving was announced.

The Festival of Giving was revealed last week, bringing an ocean’s worth of rewards and prizes. According to Rare, players can earn various items by completing challenges that run through January 20, 2021. Rare launches dedicated events, both new and returning, including some fan-favorite voyages from previous updates. Additionally, as the title of the Festival hints at, rich pirates will be rewarded for giving away their treasures to less lucky fellow buccaneers. Moreover, Twitch rewards are promised for viewers of the streaming platform.

It feels like Sea of Thieves is closing up on the festive Holiday season with an unprecedented amount of presents and gifts for players. The title is celebrating 1,000 days after its initial launch back in March 2018, and there’re tons of goodies coming. To further celebrate this significant milestone, Rare shared a nostalgic trailer on YouTube vividly showcasing the major events of that 1,000-day-long voyage. Everyone who logs in to Sea of Thieves in the coming days will receive a commemorative set of cosmetics – this particular offer runs through December 16. For exceptionally devoted fans, there’s an audiobook coming narrated by Toby Stephens who’s known for his role as Captain Flint in the Black Sails series. Additionally, Rare has prepared an official Sea of Thieves Monopoly board game and numerous other pieces of festive merch for fans to grab in the store.

Moving forward, Sea of Thieves is changing the way it delivers new content. In short, new content drops will be more regularly shipped and strictly scheduled. In 2021, all the updates will be divided into separate seasons with battle passes, playfully called the “plunder passes” by Rare. The evolution of Sea of Thieves starts with the introduction of a three-month-long Season 1 in January. It’ll include brand new content along with various rewards and activities, both free and premium. In addition, seasons will be bringing technical improvements and new gameplay features. Rare is yet to reveal specific details regarding what’s included in Season 1.

For a game that will soon be celebrating its third birthday, Sea of Thieves feels strong and confident with its player base being healthier than ever. With 15 million players, the title is entering its next 1,000 days on the crest of a wave. Additionally, treating the community of devoted fans with a nostalgic trailer clearly indicates that Rare values its audience and wants to please players with even more memorable events in the future.

Sea of Thieves is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
