Sea of Thieves: How to Unlock The Borderlands Ship

Sea of Thieves: How to Unlock The Borderlands Ship

There is now an unlockable Borderlands Ship available in Sea of Thieves. This isn’t the first time Sea of Thieves has worked with a popular property on a crossover. Just earlier this year at E3 2021, players were treated to the legendary Captain Jack Sparrow of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean as an unlockable ally. Players were able to join forces with Jack and explore the Sea of Thieves to protect it. This time around, players are able to unlock an entirely free ship based on the Borderlands series.

The Borderlands Ship is a bright orange and yellow vessel decked out with the logo of the series on its sails. Normally, players are able to purchase ship customizations using the in-game currency, but this time around, the ship is entirely free. This is all to celebrate Gamescom, one of the world’s biggest gaming events for new content and announcements. Although, the Borderlands Ship will only be available for a limited time.

This is all part of the Making Mayhem event taking place from August 24th to September 7th. Once the event comes to a close, it’s likely the Borderlands Ship will be removed from the game or unlocked in a different method. Here’s how players can obtain it.

Completing Challenges For The Borderlands Ship in Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves: How to Unlock The Borderlands Ship

To unlock the Borderlands Ship in Sea of Thieves, players will need to head over to an outpost and speak with Larinna of the Bilge Rats. This will begin a new set of challenges that players can complete to earn Favour. This is a currency attached to the event, and players can earn by completing challenges. This Favour can be used to purchase each piece of the Borderlands Ship individually. Once the player has collected every piece of the Borderlands Ship, they will be able to set sail with it. It’s important to complete this challenge before September 7th to grab it, before it’s too late.

A neat part about the ship is that since it’s free, players can invest their resources into other ventures. The Borderlands Ship even comes along with a fun Claptrap figurehead in the front of it. The Pirates of the Caribbean event had some best moments for Sea of Thieves so it will be interesting to see how the Borderlands Ship can hold up.

Sea of Thieves is available now on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.
