Scream Queens Season 2 Teaser: Oh My Gauze

Scream Queens, from Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story), debuted last fall on Fox with a semi-successful freshman season. The series mixes campy horror, comedy, and gore while poking fun at the millennial generation. In season 1, the Chanels (Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Abigail Breslin) solved the whodunit mystery surrounding the Red Devil killer that was terrorizing a campus sorority.

Although Scream Queens suffered a steady drop in ratings, Fox has put their faith in Ryan Murphy for a second season with the original cast returning and a few new faces. Taylor Lautner (The Twilight Saga), John Stamos (Full House), Cecily Strong (SNL), Colton Haynes (Teen Wolf, Arrow), and James Earl (The Lazarus Effect) have signed on to join an already talented cast that includes Jamie Lee Curtis as the ruthless Dean Munsch.

To get fans hyped for the show’s return, Lautner has shared a brand new teaser for Scream Queens season 2. The second season seems as campy as ever, with a new setting being a mental hospital that Dean Munsch purchases. Lautner and Stamos appear as strangely cheerful doctors wheeling critically injured patients down an eerie hospital corridor, then Curtis swoops in from the side showing that she is the leader of the pack, until the Chanels appear wearing glammed-up candy-striper outfits.

According to EW, executive producer Brad Falchuck explained the new season will center around Dean Munsch forging a new battle:

“She’s abolished the Greek system in the country, she’s written her book, she’s traveled the world, and she says, ‘I need a new mission. I need a new battle.’ And she identifies healthcare as her new battle.”

Falchuck also revealed that Zayday (Palmer) is on her way to becoming a doctor, Denise (Nash) has joined the FBI, and the Chanels (Roberts, Breslin, Lourde) are in a mental institution. With Glen Powell’s Chad Radwell as the only returning male character, the show is adding three “studly, hot doctors” to the mix (Stamos and Lautner among them).

Season 2 looks to be taking some ideas from Murphy’s American Horror Story with the mental hospital setting. Adding a little star power (and eye-candy) like Taylor Lautner and John Stamos, might be enough to gain a brand new audience, hopefully improving ratings and the show itself. Anyone who was Team Jacob will mostly likely tune into Scream Queens to get a glimpse of the lovesick werewolf playing a hot doc. Oh, and don’t forget Uncle Jesse, too!

Scream Queens season 2 premieres on Fox Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 9/8c.
