It has long been expected that Sam Carpenter could be the villain in Scream 6, and a new detail about the film’s Ghostface mask puts her in an even worse position. Although the true identities of Ghostface have typically always been side characters, it remains entirely possible that a main character could be Ghostface in Scream 6, and the film’s marketing is heavily implying that this role will be filled by Sam. News regarding Scream 6‘s Ghostface mask has only made Sam Carpenter seem more guilty, continuing to generate more and more suspicion around her.Sam Carpenter made her Woodsboro debut in Scream 5, where she and her sister Tara were terrorized by two new Ghostface killers. As it turned out, Sam Carpenter is the daughter of Billy Loomis, one of the two Ghostface killers in the original Scream. Scream 6’s Billy Connection Means He Will Still Haunt Sam

Scream 6’s Ghostface Mask Is Bad For Sam (& Any Hope She’s Not A Villain)

Billy Loomis haunts Sam Carpenter throughout the events of Scream 5, appearing as a vision several times in the film. It is made clear that Sam is severely psychologically affected by the legacy of her father, with her constantly living in his shadow, and Scream 6 is preparing to double down on this storyline. It has been revealed that the Ghostface mask in Scream 6 is Billy Loomis’ mask from the original film, explaining why the terrifying face looks so withered and worn. In the Scream 6 trailer, Sam can be seen holding the Ghostface mask, meaning that she will actually come into contact with it throughout the film.

This implies that Sam is now having to face the remnants of Billy Loomis physically, rather than just having visions of her father like in Scream 5. It is not yet known how Billy’s mask is back, but considering that Sam and her friends uncovered it, it seems likely that they could uncover more items connected to the Woodsboro murders. Scream 6 is not only ramping up Billy’s hold on Sam, but also Sam’s willingness to face him head-on.
