Through 6 seasons, the Roses learn to shed their spoiled personalities and chart a new course for their lives. “I would love for there to be. I’m not ruling it out. It’s very flattering that people want to know, but I would just say generally I think you need to let the good things settle for a minute. Let people finish the show. Let people sort of take a breath. And then if people are still interested and an idea comes to me and our cast is wanting to do it, then great.”
Levy continued to explain that the crew ended the show on a high note instead of dragging it out to the point where the storylines became stale, saying that he was aware of “overstaying your welcome.” So, although Levy’s general statement means a Schitt’s Creek movie won’t be happening anytime soon, he’s definitely leaving the window wide open for future Rose family shenanigans. What those storylines might entail is unclear—some fans are hoping for more news on Alexis’ life in New York, while others want a taste of David and Patrick’s married life. Whatever the future movie might be, Levy seems positive that it’ll have to come from a strong idea.
His statement on waiting it out before releasing a movie also echoes many shows that are in the process of being rebooted or remade. The majority are shows that originally premiered in the 90s or early 2000s, like Friends, Charmed, and Saved by the Bell.
