Saw X’s Macabre Poster Reminds You How Much You Love The Franchise

A macabre new Saw X poster teases the upcoming sequel’s mayhem with iconic images from the series’ gory past. The torture porn boom of the early 2000s received a major boost with the release of James Wan and Leigh Whannell’s 2004 horror classic, which introduced the iconic, trap-laying character Jigsaw. Now almost 20 years and nine movies later, Jigsaw is officially back to unleash more mayhem on more hapless targets, as Kevin Greutert (Saw VI, Saw 3D) returns to the franchise for the latest entry.

With the Saw X release date fast approaching, the movie’s official Twitter account has dropped a new poster using familiar objects from the long-running series to get fans excited. Check out the macabre art in the space below:

A gouged-out eye, a bloody heart and a rusty old hacksaw conjure nearly two decades of horror movie history, as the franchise unleashes yet another in a long line of classically creepy poster images.

Saw X Reaches Back To The Franchise’s Past

The last movie released in the Saw franchise, 2021’s Spiral, tried to put a whole new twist on the series’ formula, but proved to be a major flop, grossing just $40 million at the box office while garnering largely negative reviews (it currently holds a 37% rating on Rotten Tomatoes). Now the series will course-correct in a major way, bringing back a stalwart franchise director in Greutert, while also re-introducing Tobin Bell’s Jigsaw.

In addition to the returning helmer and iconic main character, the newest Saw sequel is bringing back yet another important figure from the series’ past in Shawnee Smith’s Amanda, the Jigsaw victim who became his protégé. While the pieces all seem to be in place for this newest entry to breathe new life into the long-running horror franchise, the film will face some stiff competition from another new entry in an old series, as The Exorcist: Believer is set to come out a week after Saw X drops (after the new Exorcist film moved up a week to avoid someone more terrifying than Jigsaw, Pazuzu and all the horror villains in history put together: Taylor Swift).
