Saw X’s Biggest Character Fate Uncertainty Can Now Be Solved In 2024

The Saw franchise will continue to expand with a new movie, and it can solve the biggest character fate uncertainty left by Saw X. The Saw saga kicked off in 2003 with the short film now known as Saw 0.5, which was developed into Saw in 2004, directed by James Wan. Saw introduced viewers to John “Jigsaw” Kramer (Tobin Bell), a serial killer who trapped his victims in deadly traps designed by him in order to “test” their will to survive and teach them a moral lesson. Jigsaw’s “games” continued after his death thanks to his apprentices, but the saga went back to Kramer with a tenth movie.

Saw X is both a sequel and a prequel as it’s set between the events of Saw and Saw II, and it follows Kramer, who, in desperate need of a cure for his cancer, travels to México to try an experimental procedure said to have positive results. Unfortunately, the whole thing is a scam, so Kramer goes back to his Jigsaw ways and comes up with traps and “games” to punish those responsible for scamming him and many others. The doctor in charge was Finn Pederson, whose daughter, Cecilia (Synnøve Macody Lund), welcomes Kramer at the clinic in México City, and of course, she was a main target in Kramer’s plan, but her fate was left unknown.

Saw X Twist Ending Explained

Saw X’s ending is filled with death and twists, as the full extent of John Kramer’s plan and final Jigsaw game comes to light. Here’s what happens.

Saw 11 Can Confirm If Cecilia Is Alive Or Dead After Saw X

Cecilia chained around her neck in Saw X (Saw 10)

Cecilia is one of the most unredeemable characters in the Saw franchise, as she never changed nor had a moment of introspection, not even after (supposedly) escaping death. Cecilia was selfish, manipulative, and vindictive, and wouldn’t hesitate to put others in danger (including kids and her own business partners) in order to save herself. Cecilia showed how cruel she was when, believing she had won and had turned Kramer and Amanda’s game against them, she refused to take Gabriela to the hospital and broke her neck in front of them.

However, Kramer is always a step ahead and he and Amanda were freed when Cecilia and Parker activated a tripwire that sealed them in a room where a deadly chemical was released, and the only way to survive was through a ventilation hole large enough for just one person’s head. Cecilia and Parker fought each other and Cecilia killed him, saving herself by putting her head through the ventilation hole. To her surprise, even though she technically won the game and should have been freed, John, Amanda, and a young boy they befriended called Carlos left her there, trapped.

It’s commonly said that if a character doesn’t die on screen, then they are still alive, which could be Cecilia’s case, but the Saw saga has challenged this common belief before. The most notable example is Leigh Whannell’s Adam in the first movie, who was left to die in the bathroom, though he didn’t pass his “test”. Given that Cecilia didn’t learn anything, she might have been left to die there.

Cecilia’s Fate Could Have A Significant Impact On Saw 11

Cecilia’s fate, no matter what it is, can impact the story of Saw XI. If Cecilia is alive and manages to escape, she may try to get revenge on John Kramer and Amanda for leaving her trapped, establishing herself as an antagonist and one of the most relentless and truly unredeemable characters in the Saw saga. On the other hand, if she never makes it out and dies there, it could be revealed that Amanda was the designer of the trap, setting up her downfall in Saw III, where it was revealed she had been creating inescapable traps that killed the subjects as she didn’t believe they would learn from the tests they were put through. Saw XI has to address Cecilia’s fate, and it’s to be seen if and how this influences the story.
