Twin cosplayers the Carr Bros (@carrbrosprops) are known for bringing exceptionally well-executed looks to whatever Conventions they attend, but this year’s Dragon Con 2023 saw some of their best work yet, as they delivered an Omega-level Sabretooth cosplay, a take on the X-villain’s 1990s look, which delighted convention goers and social media followers alike.

Wolverine’s long-time nemesis Sabretooth has had a variety of incarnations over the years, but he is perhaps best associated with his 1990s-era outfit.

A full-body suit, making him look sleek as he is dangerous, Sabertooth’s 1990s look was vividly brought to life by the Carr Bros, making them a popular sight at Dragon Con 2023.

The Carr Bros Sabretooth is so finely detailed, so well done, that commenters on social media questioned whether the picture was of one of the brothers in costume, or a close up of an action figure. Truly, not a stitch appears out of place with their Sabretooth costume, as if this version of Sabretooth had stepped directly off the comic book page – perhaps the highest note of praise for a cosplayer. From the contrasting yellow and brown of the bodysuit, to the ample fur adorning the shoulders, to the precise right shade of blonde hair, everything about this costume is perfectly realized.

While many pictures from Dragon Con 2023 still have yet to hit online, giving fans who weren’t able to attend the opportunity to bask in the glory of the weekend’s various fantastic cosplays – including multiple character designs modeled by the Carr Bros – the event was clearly a success. The Carr Bros’ Sabretooth can be seen collapsing face-first into bed following a long, busy convention, with the post including the hashtag, “postcon blues,” a feeling anyone who has attended a comic book convention, fan expo, or music festival can likely relate to. The post also notes, “Only 354 more days to finish our cosplays for next year,” suggesting that the fun never stops rolling.

Sabretooth has had a number of looks since his debut as a non-mutant in 1977’s Iron Fist #14. Since that initial appearance, he has gone on to be one of Marvel’s most iconic mutants. While his look is always striking, designed in one way or another to give readers a clear impression of his ferocity, his unhinged animalistic nature, the character’s most recognizable look remains his 1990s style. From his appearance in X-Men: The Animated Series to his early rehabilitation storylines, the look modeled at Dragon Con 2023 by the Carr Bros is the Sabretooth that leaps to many X-fans minds first and foremost.
