Sabine’s Delightful Loth-Cat Leaves One Difficult Question After Ahsoka Episode 2

Sabine’s Delightful Loth-Cat Leaves One Difficult Question After Ahsoka Episode 2

Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Ahsoka episodes 1 and 2.

With the debut of Ahsoka, Star Wars has introduced Sabine Wren’s Loth-cat as the latest lovable creature to the franchise. As a species, Loth-cats first appeared throughout Star Wars Rebels. Similar to cats in real life, Loth-cats were carnivores who fed mostly on Loth-rats. And while they were native to Lothal, Loth-cats have also appeared elsewhere in the galaxy. In The Mandalorian season 1 episode 4, the first-ever live-action Loth-cat hissed at Grogu while he and Din Djarin visited the planet Sorgan.

Unlike the Loth-cat on Sorgan, Sabine’s Loth-cat took a leaf out of Grogu’s book and blends both animatronics and CGI. Given their mischievous nature, it was difficult to domesticate a Loth-cat. The majority of them roamed the grasslands of Lothal in search of food. They tended to live alone, though would group together to raise young Loth-cats, known as kits. The fact that Sabine managed to domesticate her Loth-cat is an impressive feat, especially since Ezra Bridger had difficultly connecting with them through the Force in Rebels.

Sabine Left Her Loth-Cat On Lothal – With Nobody To Care For It

Sabine’s Delightful Loth-Cat Leaves One Difficult Question After Ahsoka Episode 2

Despite introducing her adorable feline in the debut episodes, the series seems to be moving away from Lothal at the end of episode 2. Sabine has cut her hair and donned her original Mandalorian armor to head off with Ahsoka on an adventure, but at the same time she’s apparently left her Loth-cat alone in the Lothal communications tower. Given how well she’s cared for the Loth-cat thus far, it’s hard to believe she didn’t at least let it down from the top of the tower. Yet the series refused to show what became of her feline friend after Sabine left with Ahsoka.

Can A Loth-Cat Survive Without Its Owner?

Of course, Loth-cats are originally wild animals and should be perfectly capable of fending for themselves. Nevertheless, Sabine clearly went to extreme lengths to domesticate hers. Her Loth-cat has become reliant on her for food and water. This begs the question of whether or not the Loth-cat will be able to survive without Sabine there to feed it and keep it company. It’s likely been her pet for the past few years Sabine has been on Lothal, but whether it still has enough instinct to make it on its own remains to be seen.

There’s a very small possibility that Sabine Wren smuggled her Loth-cat onboard Ahsoka’s T-6 shuttle before leaving Lothal, but it’s unlike since she’s not seen with the cat at the end of episode 2. Thankfully, the Star Wars franchise rarely lets any real harm befall it’s cute and merchandisable creatures. While the Ahsoka series may have forgotten to wrap up Sabine’s Loth-cat loose end, there’s still plenty of hope that the feline made it out to the fields of Lothal where it will hunt down Loth-rats in peace while awaiting Sabine’s return.

Ahsoka releases new episodes Tuesdays at 6pm PT / 9pm ET on Disney+.
