Ryan Reynolds Urges MCU Fans Not To Spoil Deadpool 3

Ryan Reynolds has shared a new plea asking fans not to spoil details of his upcoming MCU debut in 2024’s Deadpool 3. Following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019, Reynolds was quickly confirmed to be reprising the role of Wade Wilson, a.k.a. Deadpool, in the MCU proper, and he is currently the only actor that has been revealed to be making the move to the MCU permanently. Filming for Deadpool 3 began in May 2023, but took a hiatus during the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. With production resuming, however, several set photos have leaked, revealing new details about Deadpool 3 that the film’s stars would rather keep quiet.

Taking to Instagram on December 6, 2023, Ryan Reynolds shared a plea on his story urging fans not to spoil any details revealed in Deadpool 3 set photos. Noting that it’s important for the production to film in “real, natural environments, using practical effects,” though “telephoto lenses continue to spoil surprises and create a difficult situation.” Reynolds does mention that it’s understood that people post spoilers because “they’re excited,” but that Deadpool 3 is about “audience joy,” so spoiling these surprises may detract from the enjoyment of the project. This is a problem that has plagued other MCU projects, so Reynolds is evidently keen to avoid it for Deadpool 3.

What Deadpool 3 Set Photos Have Revealed About The Upcoming Project

The majority of Deadpool 3’s set photos have depicted Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in a major battle scene in some sort of wasteland. Some theories have suggested this could be the Void at the end of time, which was first seen in Loki season 1, or potentially simply the ruins of Fox’s X-Men Universe, as a giant 20th Century Fox logo has also been seen. Perhaps the most exciting reveal from set photos is the fact that Jackman’s Wolverine will finally be given a comic-accurate costume with yellow-and-blue detailing, something that he never sported in Fox’s previous X-Men projects.

Recent set photos have revealed the inclusion of at least one of the Time Variance Authority’s Minute Men, marking their first MCU appearance outside of the Loki series on Disney+. Sabretooth and Toad, last seen in 2000’s X-Men, also seem to be making appearances, and Deadpool 3 will seemingly mark the returns of iconic Marvel cars such as Red Skull’s coupe from Captain America: The First Avenger, the cupcake van from Moon Knight, and the Fantastic Four’s “Fantasticar” from Marvel Comics. Since so much has already been revealed in set photos for Deadpool 3, it’s easy to see why Ryan Reynolds would urge fans to keep spoilers to a minimum.
