Ryan Reynolds’ Hal Jordan/Green Lantern puts the Infinity Gauntlet and saves the Avengers in hilarious fan-art. In between playing Marvel’s Deadpool, the actor also dipped his toes into the world of DC Films, playing the titular role in Martin Campbells Green Lantern film from 2011. Recently, after denouncing the film several times for fans, Reynolds is once again embracing the character after he floated the idea that he’ll be in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
In the process of debunking rumors that he’ll be Hawkman in the upcoming Dwayne Johnson film, Black Adam, Reynolds suggested that he might be appearing in the Justice League project for HBO Max as Green Lantern. He followed it up with a highly edited short clip of Green Lantern which also features snippets of Deadpool 2 and Justice League theatrical cut, not to mention Tom Cruise dressed up as another Green Lantern. The actor’s obviously just joking around, but fans took the idea and ran away with it, coming up with various scenarios.
Among the latest ones come in the form of fan-art courtesy of Eren Gürocak which features Green Lantern inserted in Avengers: Endgame‘s climactic battle. The one-sheet is peppered with Easter eggs, but the centerpiece is Reynolds’ DC hero wearing the Infinity Gauntlet and ready to snap. Check out the image below:
Aside from Green Lantern, there’s also a string of other characters appearing in the background like Iron Man/Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), who’s fallen beside Captain America’s (Chris Evans) shield and Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth’s) hammer, Mjölnir. What makes this funnier is that the genius, billionaire seems to simply watch while Hal Jordan put on the Infinity Gauntlet – something that he did in Endgame. There’s also Deadpool (both the old and new version) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), not to mention a broken glass of Aviation Gin – Reynolds’ alcohol company. Arguably the most interesting detail in the fan-art, however, is the appearance of Cable, played by Josh Brolin who also portrayed Thanos in the MCU.
This fan-art is obviously only made for fun. If there’s any possibility that fans will see Reynolds dressed up as Green Lantern again, it will be through a Warner Bros. and DC project but not necessarily Justice League. This is possible because the studio is building its own multiverse and past iterations of their heroes such as Green Lantern can at least make a cameo. That being said, while Hal Jordan won’t be meddling with future Avengers business, Reynolds will more likely rub elbows with them in the long run as the fan-favorite Wade Wilson with Deadpool 3 confirmed to be in-development for Marvel Studios.
