Rupert Grint’s Daughter Learnt The F-Word Listening To Him Run Lines

Ruper Grint explains how running lines for Servant led to his baby daughter developing a fondness for the “F-word.” Following his tenure as Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise, Grint found himself catapulted into stardom, becoming a household name alongside fellow Potter alumnus Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. Despite making several appearances at the box office since his time at Hogwarts, Grint has taken to flexing his acting muscles on TV screens of late, recently stared as Julian Pearce in psychological horror, Servant.

Acting as the perfect vehicle for Grint to showcase his acting range, Servant has proved something of a hidden gem amongst horror fans. The show, which stars Grint alongside Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell and Game of Thrones‘ Nell Tiger Free, explores the story of grieving parents who use a reborn doll to help cope with their bereavement. Now into season 3, Servant has garnered an increasingly impressive critical reception, thanks to its unsettling and tense slow-burn storytelling fuelled by strong performances.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Grint explained how he has found humor while working on the deeply disturbing Servant, with the star’s baby daughter the culprit of the laughs. While interviewing Grint, host Jimmy Fallon asked if Wednesday, Grint’s daughter, could talk yet, with Grint admitting that “the f-word came pretty quickly.” Elaborating, Grint said Wednesday “spends a lot of time in my dressing room when I’m [doing] my lines for [Servant].” Unfortunately, Grint’s character “says the f-word a lot,” leading his daughter to pick up on his character’s colorful language. Check out the full quote below:

Fallon: Did she say dada or mama first?

Grint: It was kind of at the same time. And, also, the f-word came pretty quickly.

Fallon: Your baby says the f-word?

Grint: She does, she spends a lot of time in my dressing room when I’m kind of doing my lines for Servant and my character says the f-word a lot. Now she just says it whenever she’s excited. We were in the toy store today and she was just walking around dropping it.

Fallon: Do people laugh? What do they do?

Grint: It’s kind of a mixed reaction, we find it hilarious so it’s kind of encouraging it.”

Although learning the hard way that babies are like sponges, Grint has clearly taken his daughter’s potty mouth in good humor. Of course, while finding the funny side to the situation, it’s unlikely that Wednesday will see Servant any time soon, with the show being much darker than Grint’s previous work. That said, Grint has revealed he’s slowly started introducing the young Wednesday to the world of Harry Potter, so there’s sure to come a time when Grint expands his baby daughter’s viewing with his latest venture.

Despite Servant recently being renewed for a final season 4, Grint is already confirmed to continue working with M. Night Shyamalan, the show’s executive producer, on the filmmaker’s upcoming project Knock at the Cabin. The moviewhich is being kept tightly under wraps by Shyamalan, is currently scheduled for a February 2023 release. With Grint’s involvement with Knock at the Cabin remaining as secretive as the rest of the project, it seems the Servant star will continue to expand his résumé with even more great thrillers — perhaps with his daughter staying away from any line-running spaces for the foreseeable future.
