Rumor: Nintendo Switch 2’s First Huge Game Is One Of The Most Anticipated RPGs Of The Decade

Rumor: Nintendo Switch 2’s First Huge Game Is One Of The Most Anticipated RPGs Of The Decade

A new rumor may have revealed the Nintendo Switch 2 first major release. Previously, rumors suggested Hi-Fi Rush was skipping the current Nintendo Switch and would be a launch title, but these new reports suggest that the new console will be getting a highly anticipated RPG upon the game’s launch.

Based on new information from X user, MbKKssTBhz5, who is a highly credible insider when it comes to Sega titles, Atlus is planning to bring the long-awaited Persona 6 to Nintendo Switch 2 in the future. MbKKssTBhz5’s comment came following the Direct Xbox podcast’s discussion of whether the title will come to Xbox at launch alongside PlayStation.

New Nintendo Switch Game Rumors Prove It’s Not A Dead Console (Yet)

Despite rumors that a new Nintendo console is on the horizon, there may be over a dozen new Switch games due to release in 2024.

Neither The Switch 2 Nor Persona 6 Have Been Officially Announced

Despite Many Release Date Rumors

Atlus hasn’t properly unveiled Persona 6 just yet, and while there have been rumors surrounding its release date for years, recent reports from a fairly reliable Sega leaker, Head on the Block, on the ResetEra forums suggest that the RPG will launch in 2025. These reports suggested that Persona 6 will be “a fully featured semi-open world game” and is already 95% complete, making a release next year likely if true.

There have also been recent reports that the Nintendo Switch 2 has been delayed into 2025 despite initially targeting a 2024 release, so this new timing could result in Persona 6 being a major launch title for the console. With the size and scale suggested by Head on the Block, it would make sense for Atlus to wait for Nintendo’s more powerful console to run Persona 6, rather than trying to scale it back for the current hardware and risk a disastrous Nintendo Switch launch like other titles such as Mortal Kombat 1 or the Batman: Arkham trilogy, or face major delays like Hogwarts Legacy, potentially taking it to the newer console’s launch window anyway.

Of course, neither the Nintendo Switch 2 nor Persona 6 have been officially announced by Nintendo nor Atlus. Recent reports have suggested that Nintendo will reveal its upcoming console in June 2024, so hopefully it won’t be long til players can find out more about the newer device, and what titles will be included in its launch catalog.
