Rosario Dawson Responds to MCU’s Daredevil Reboot

Rosario Dawson responds to the MCU’s Daredevil reboot television series, Daredevil: Born Again. Debuting in 2015 on the Netflix streaming service, Daredevil ran for three seasons, with the title character also featured in the superhero team-up limited series, The Defenders. Despite the show’s popularity and critical acclaim, Daredevil was cancelled in 2018 without news of a potential return. However, following a surprise cameo from Charlie Cox reprising his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home, rumors began to fly regarding the character’s return to the small screen.

In March 2022, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders were removed from Netflix and brought over to Disney’s streaming service, Disney+. It was subsequently announced that Daredevil will be receiving an 18-episode reboot series titled Daredevil: Born Again. The show will feature the return of Cox as the titular character as well as Vincent D’Onofrio’s villain Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. However, it has yet to be revealed if Dawson will reprise her role as Claire Temple, the nurse who would frequently tend to Murdock’s wounds.

While speaking at a panel at Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (via @Laughing_place), Dawson discusses working with Cox on the Daredevil series and responds to the MCU reboot show news. The actor praises Cox’s performance, calling him “wonderful” and “dedicated.” She also briefly touches on Daredevil’s jump to the MCU. Read what Dawson says below:

Marvel’s continued to do that now with the MCU characters, to now see our shows be now part of canon and part of the MCU. Now he’s got 18 new episodes, it couldn’t be happening to a greater person, and, I don’t know, we really delighted in it.

Rosario Dawson Responds to MCU’s Daredevil Reboot

Dawson truly appears to be proud of her costar and what he has accomplished throughout the years they worked on Daredevil and The Defenders. However, with her comments, the actor does not seem to include herself when discussing the upcoming series. This may reveal that Dawson will not be included in the Daredevil reboot, or that she is playing coy and is simply withholding her involvement until a later date.

Although Daredevil‘s future seemed uncertain following the series’ cancellation in 2018, since the announcement of the hero’s return, Daredevil has been thrust into the MCU in a multitude of ways. Not only will he appear in the reboot series, but also in the upcoming She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, the Hawkeye spinoff show Echo, as well as the new animated Spider-Man show, Spider-Man: Freshman Year. With details of the reboot series kept under wraps, audiences will have to wait for Daredevil: Born Again when it premieres on Disney+ in 2024.
