Rogue Legacy 2: How to Find The Secret Memory of Lamech

Rogue Legacy 2: How to Find The Secret Memory of Lamech

Rogue Legacy 2, much like it’s predecessor, is a roguelike platformer where players guide countless generations across a randomly generated environment. After every death, players are given the choice of three heirs to play as. Each one has a different appearance, class, and randomly selected traits that alter their gameplay style.

Despite the random generation of the game, there are still some collectibles that players can find to help each journey. Hidden across the world are Insights, which are permanent upgrades that each new heir retains. One such insight grants 15% damage against Estuary Lamech, the first boss in the game. Dealing more powerful hits will help players take him down quicker, so there’s a rewarding incentive for tracking down Lamech’s secret memory. This guide will take a look at the steps needed to find the Secret Memory of Lamech.

Finding Lamech’s Secret Memory in Rogue Legacy 2

The first step players must take to acquire Lamech’s memory is to obtain Aesop’s Tome. Once collected, players gain the ‘power of empathy’ Insight and will be able to read memories, depicted as blue wisps, scattered about the world. In order to learn it, players will need to find Aesop of the Tome and complete their series of challenges. Though the general shape of the world remains the same each generation, the layout of the individual rooms randomizes after every death. Aesop of the Tome’s chamber, a horizontal room with a warp point and lanterns, appears near the start of Citadel Agartha. After bouncing to the top, talk to Aesop of the Tome, the statue, to begin their challenges. This one primarily revolves around Nightmares, entities that will attack players in their area of control every time the player attacks. To outwit these foul obstacles, plan out movements and attacks to quickly navigate out of the way. Attacking in video games is second nature to most players, so think twice before swinging a sword when in the Nightmares’ line of sight. Upon completion of this myriad of challenges, players are rewarded with Aesop’s Tome.

Having collected the tome, players can now set out in search of Lamech’s secret memory. It’s hidden in another area called the Tower of Light. Players need to look out for another vertical room filled with lanterns, this time with a treasure chest at the top. On the opposite side, there is a crack indent in the wall. There is no indication they can do so, but players can jump into that crack and enter a secret passageway. Jumping around will let players ascend a set of platforms to the top of the hidden tower, where Lamech’s secret memory is located. After reading it, players are rewarded with a permanent damage bonus against Lamech when they fight him. Even if they die, the boon is passed on to every new heir. That way the player’s clan can one day defeat Estuary Lamech.

Rogue Legacy 2 is in early access and available through Steam on PC.
