In Nightwing #110 by Tom Taylor and Sami Basri, Nightwing and Superman Jon Kent team up to hunt for Damian, who’s gone missing during “Beast World”. After interrogating the Cobblepot family, they track Robin down to a gladiatorial arena known as the Pit.
Nightwing and Superman discover that Robin has been transformed into a cat hybrid and is competing under the name ‘Mr. Mittens’. After Damian takes a few hits from a bear hybrid, Apex Ava orders Robin to let loose. Robin goes feral and savagely claws his opponent, but Superman stops Damian before he strikes a killing blow.
Robin’s Mr. Mittens Form is a Wild Killer
Thanks to Beast Boy turning into a Star Conqueror and unleashing a wave of spores, people are turning into animal-human hybrids left and right in “Beast World”. Robin decided to investigate where Gotham’s population of beasts had hidden and tracked them down to an underground bunker in the abandoned Gotham Zoo. Unfortunately, he found out the beasts were under Apex Ava’s control. The mysterious new villain captured Damian and forced him to consume one of the Garro spores. The hero was helpless as Robin changed into a cat hybrid and added to Apex Ava’s collection.
Robin fans all know that Damian Wayne is one of the best fighters in the DC Universe. Thanks to his childhood in the League of Assassins, the Boy Wonder has skills that make him a serious threat. However, Damian has left his more violent ways behind and is now firmly a hero. But the things he learned with the League are still there and when Robin loses control he can do some serious damage. Usually, that’s not a problem. But as the terrifying Mr. Mittens? Robin is the most lethal animal person to appear in “Beast World”.
Mr. Mittens is Robin’s Darkest Self Unleashed
Robin has come a long way since he left his murderous ways behind. But the conditioning he suffered isn’t something that can easily be undone. While consciously Damian chooses not to take a life, his beast persona shows that he’s still got that unrestrained killer inside him. It doesn’t make Damian a bad person or responsible for what he did in the Pit. But his Mr. Mittens alter ego shows that Robin has a negative side that he’s still working towards putting away for good.
