Rise Of The Tomb Raider: How Long Does It Take To Beat?

Rise Of The Tomb Raider: How Long Does It Take To Beat?

How long does it take to beat 2015 sequel Rise Of The Tomb Raider? Lara Croft quickly became one of gaming’s most iconic heroes following 1996’s Tomb Raider for the PS1. The original game was an addictive mixture of platforming, exploration and action inspired by the Indiana Jones franchise, and Lara herself quickly drew a following. Numerous sequels followed, and the series received two movie adaptations with 2001’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and 2003 sequel Cradle Of Life; while both received bad reviews, Angelina Jolie was praised for her turn as Lara.

Like any long-running series Tomb Raider has had its peaks and valleys over the decades. The weak reception of the movie sequel and 2003’s video game Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness saw the franchise wane in popularity, and while later titles received good reviews it was only with 2013 reboot Tomb Raider that Lara made a true comeback. This gritty adventure acted as an origin story for young Lara and was topped off with great gameplay and fantastic visuals. The movie franchise was later reborn with 2018’s Tomb Raider starring Alicia Vikander, and while it only enjoyed a mixed reception, a sequel to be directed by Ben Wheatley is currently in the works.

Rise Of The Tomb Raider is the 2015 sequel and finds Lara heading to Siberia to raid more tombs and find a lost city that may hold the secret to immortality. Like its predecessor, Riss Of The Tomb Raider was praised for its gameplay and puzzle solving, in addition to combat improvements. The story itself could have used some work, but other than that it was a worthy follow-up in every way.

Rise Of The Tomb Raider: How Long Does It Take To Beat?

Rise Of The Tomb Raider should take players around thirteen hours to get through on their first attempt, according to How Long To Beat. For those who want to explore everything the sequel has to offer, a completionist run should see that playtime shoot up to 35 hours instead. This isn’t a huge shock since the game has plenty of secrets and extras to uncover. DLC like Baba Yaga: The Temple Of The Witch and Blood Ties should take around an hour to complete.

Rise Of The Tomb Raider was followed by 2018 trilogy capper Shadow Of The Tomb Raider, but given how robust the series has proven it’s guaranteed to continue. It will be interesting to see if the franchise will reinvent itself once again, or if it will continue from the timeline established by the 2013 reboot.
