Rick & Morty Season 7 Has Another Villain Story To Finish

Rick & Morty Season 7 Has Another Villain Story To Finish

Rick and Morty season 7 is finally telling the Rick Prime story, but the season also has another separate villain story to finish. Season 6 heavily focused on setting up Rick Prime, an alternate version of Rick that will act as the main antagonist of season 7. While Rick Prime is interesting, he’s not the most popular Rick and Morty villain, with one forgotten character being completely sidelined in season 6.

Rick and Morty has been teasing Rick Prime for a while, with viewers expecting that season 6 would finally delve into the character’s evil plan. Disappointingly, season 6 mostly ignored the character, with Rick Prime only having an influence on the story in the season premiere and the season finale. Rick and Morty has always had canon problems, struggling to balance one-off adventures with overarching stories. Now with the introduction of Rick Prime, the series has to deal with two villains, hopefully finishing the story of season 5’s forgotten antagonist.

Rick & Morty Never Resolved Its Evil Morty Cliffhanger (& Season 7 Needs To)

Rick & Morty Season 7 Has Another Villain Story To Finish

Evil Morty is the villain that has been teased for the longest, but his Rick and Morty story still hasn’t been resolved. Season 5 ended on a huge Evil Morty cliffhanger, and Rick and Morty season 7 really needs to bring this storyline back. In the season 5 finale, Evil Morty finally tore a hole in the Central Finite Curve, disabling Rick’s portal gun. However, this hole was unceremoniously closed by season 6’s dinosaurs, almost as if the show wants to get rid of the Evil Morty story. This would be a waste, as his incomplete story could really add to season 7.

Evil Morty returning in Rick and Morty season 7 needs to happen, as he still hasn’t appeared since his cliffhanger ending. The villain’s whereabouts are still currently unknown, even though his actions at the end of season 5 should have been season 6’s most important story. Before moving on to tell the Rick Prime storyline, season 7 needs to wrap up the Evil Morty storyline, bringing him back for one final confrontation with Rick and Morty.

Rick & Morty Season 7 Can Finish The Evil Morty AND Rick Prime Stories

Rick Prime meets Jerry in Rick and Morty season 6

The show has two villain stories simultaneously going, but that doesn’t mean Rick and Morty season 7 has to choose one. Season 7 could easily finish both Evil Morty and Rick Prime’s storylines, with the potential for season 7 having two villains actually being pretty exciting. Dealing with these two major threats could make Rick and Morty season 7 more story-focused than ever, making up for season 6’s lack of canon stories.

Although two villains may seem like a lot, Rick and Morty season 7 actually has plenty of time to feature both characters. Season 6 really only focused on the main story in two out of its ten episodes. All season 7 would have to do is have a few more episodes focus on the main story, creating plenty of room for both Evil Morty and Rick Prime. However, this is presuming Rick and Morty season 7 actually focuses on the main story at all, which sometimes it decides not to do.
