The Rick and Morty season 6 release date is finally set for September on Adult Swim. Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland’s hit adult animated sitcom has developed a massive fan following over the nearly 10 years since its debut. Audiences have come to love the crazy adventures between Morty Smith and his grandfather Rick Sanchez, which explore the vast multiverse, time travel, and much more. Rick and Morty has become a flagship series for Adult Swim as a result, with the network handing out a 70-episode renewal in 2018 to ensure many more seasons of adventures would come – and hopefully without massive hiatuses.
Rick and Morty season 5 debuted in the summer of 2021 and concluded its ten-episode run in September. The Rick and Morty season 5 finale gave fans plenty to think about as they await season 6; it was during the finale that viewers finally got answers about Rick Sanchez’s past, saw the return of Evil Morty, and teased a major multiverse story that lies ahead. Rick and Morty season 5 proved divisive for viewers, though. However, there is still plenty of excitement to see what will come next – even if fans have so far been left in the dark about when Rick and Morty’s adventures will continue.
Adult Swim has now officially confirmed the Rick and Morty season 6 release date, with the premiere set for September 4, 2022. The episodes will continue to air on Sunday nights at 11 pm EST. No story details have been revealed about Rick and Morty season 6 episode 1, but a photo of a ripped Rick and Morty was revealed. In announcing the premiere date, Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim and Cartoon Network, touted that it is a “soon-to-be iconic season” and plans to get fans uniquely involved:

The return of Rick and Morty season 6 comes almost exactly one year after season 5’s ending. It is sure to be welcome news for fans of the series, as Adult Swim previously used social media to respond to the growing demand to know when the show was coming back. Producers have previously teased that Rick and Morty season 6 will have more serialized storylines, while it has also been confirmed that season 7 is already being written.
