Morty dares Rick to kick him out of their duo and fly solo, prompting Rick to summon a game show-style wheel of things he deems to be better than Morty. It’s not the first time the two characters have butted heads, but with the season 5 finale being an hour-long, there could be some new twists and turns in store. Given the overall lukewarm response Rick and Morty season 5 has received, the finale could be a chance to redeem the episodes that haven’t quite landed with fans. Odd plotlines like the giant space incest baby, and an over-reliance on strict parody over original story ideas, have been the main targets of criticism. Season 5 has generally maintained the show’s high standards for its writing, performances, and animation.
