RHOSLC: Mary Cosby Hasn’t Been Involved In Season 3 Filming So Far

Season 3 of The Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City began filming in late January and Mary Cosby was nowhere to be seen. Several cast members from the franchise have been in the news lately for a variety of reasons. Jen Shah is facing criminal charges regarding her business, newcomer Jennie Nguyen is doing damage control after racist social media posts from 2020 were discovered and Mary herself made waves due to her own racist remarks and subsequent absence from the season 2 reunion. Fractures between the cast mates have deepened in recent weeks due to both on and off-screen drama.

Mary has been under fire recently due to racist remarks she made to fellow cast member Jennie, including one in which Mary referred to her “slanted eyes.” Jennie, a Vietnamese American, was incensed by the terminology and took Mary to task in front of the other women, most of whom agreed with her assessment. In a strange twist, Jennie is now in the process of trying to clean up her own image as a result of racially insensitive posts she made during the height of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020. Viewers can’t believe Jennie’s posts weren’t unearthed sooner. One responded, “This is getting ridiculous. Bravo needs to start vetting these people better. Someone should be going through all these posts before they even consider hiring the person.” Tne response to her posts, along with one missing OG cast member, will likely be covered in season 3.

People reports that following Mary’s no-show at the reunion, she has not been present for filming during the first week of season 3. All of the other women, however, are participating, including Jennie, whose continued presence seems to indicate that her offensive posts were forgivable. According to their source, Mary’s absence shocked her co-stars because she hadn’t told any of them that she wasn’t coming. Though Mary explained that she had skipped the reunion because it was going to be “one-sided,” she has yet to address accusations that she is a cult leader who has stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars or that she was bribed into marrying her step-grandfather after her grandmother died.

Further complicating matters, Mary’s mother and step-father came forward recently to share their perspectives on Mary, her husband Robert and the church that her grandmother founded. Disputing nearly everything that she has professed about her life on RHOSLC, Mary’s parents say that she was manipulated by Robert with lies and money. Mary has said repeatedly that her parents were upset that she was the one who was chosen to take over her grandmother’s church, but her parents say that’s far from the truth. They accuse Robert of setting his sights on Mary because she was young and naive and that this enabled him to marry her and isolate her from her family.

Mary’s decision to skip the reunion is actually one of the least newsworthy things about her life at the moment. Her racially insensitive remarks, unflattering rumors about her church and her parents’ recent bombshells are certainly grade-A housewife fodder, but perhaps it’s all just too much to overcome on-camera. Despite all of these challenges, Mary’s quirky behavior, outlandish wardrobe and take-no-prisoners approach has certainly endeared her to a large faction of the audience. While there’s been no official announcement from Bravo regarding Mary’s fate, fans of  The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, are definitely engaged when it comes to these women and their antics.
