Candiace Dillard Basset took to her social media to tell fans that re-watching The Real Housewives of Potomac and her fight with Monique Samuels was “very traumatic.”
Fans are still reeling from the all-new September 27 episode of RHOP, where they finally got to witness the physical altercation between Candiace and Monique. The fight occurred at a winery and escalated to the point where producers had to step in to separate the women. Fans were appalled by both women’s lack of self-respect as they threw down over unresolved issues.
Fans watched on the episode as Candiace provoked anger in Monique by continuing to push her buttons and talk over her. By the time producers made the judgment call to step in, they were too late and the damage had been done. On the eve of the episode, Candiace took to her Twitter to explain to fans that the fight was “very traumatic” for her. After explaining that viewers would see everything, she went on to say Bravo had “really left little, if anything out. It’s raw. It’s very traumatic for me. I would be lying if I said I’m okay. I’m not. The level of instability a person has to have to behave the way she did and then double down on it is incomprehensible.” Check out Candiace’s tweet below:
Fans felt sad that the women’s friendship deteriorated to this level, but did not feel Monique was all to blame. Even the other housewives pointed out that Candiace had been saying whatever she wanted for the last few seasons and her words were bound to catch up to her. On the episode, Monique claimed she “blacked out” during the altercation. But Monique also tweeted a response to the unpleasant incident, saying, “The blessing of experiencing lows means there’s no where to go but UP! Keep watching to see the entire journey. I’m grateful for my ups and my downs because they help me grow. I’ll continue to look for the positives wrapped within the negatives and move forward.”
The women have not spoken since the incident, and both pressed charges against one another. The judge eventually dropped all charges, but Candiace and Gizelle Bryant still refuse to film with Monique. It was even announced the Monique would not be attending the girl’s trip or other social get-togethers for the remainder of the season.
The Real Housewives of Potomac airs Sunday at 9 pm ET on Bravo.
