RHOP: Candiace Bassett Announces Tour With RHOA Alum Shamari DeVoe

The Real Housewives of Potomac star Candiace Bassett announced she will be going on a musical tour and that The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Shamari DeVoe will join her in Atlanta. Throughout her tenure on RHOP, Candiace has been vocal and vulnerable about her career struggles and goal of becoming a singer. After nearly signing with an agency in RHOP season 5, Candiace returned the following season with the announcement that she didn’t end up getting signed and that she was putting up her own money and time to make a music video in the hopes of signing elsewhere. Viewers watched as she welcomed her fellow RHOP cast members, including newcomer Mia Thornton, and her mother to make cameos in the music video, which featured plenty of drama involving her friends and husband/manager Chris Bassett.

The music video ultimately came together to Candiace’s satisfaction, but comments Mia made to Candiace’s mother regarding Chris’ involvement led to explosive fighting between the two women. Meanwhile, Candiace and Chris butted heads about his role as her musical career manager, and the couple faced stress and pressure from her friends and mother to more clearly define his job title and whether or not he was getting paid. Candiace is no stranger to friend group drama, however, and is known by fans to jump into the fray with heated words and calculated insults when her temper is up. The RHOP housewife has a long feud with Ashley Darby, with whom she’s had friction for years. The recent trailer for RHOP season 7 teased the two powerhouses tentatively making peace, though, and potentially mending their relationship.

After releasing her debut album, Deep Space, in September 2021, Candiace announced she will be touring alongside special musical guest Shamari. “ATL you all are in for a treat!” she wrote via social media, “I’m coming to you all as one of my last stops on the #DEEPSPACETOUR2022 and I’m soooo excited to have R&B legends @qparker112 and @shamaridevoe as my special guests.” The singer revealed the tour will hit Philadelphia, PA; Chicago, IL; Nashville, TN; Atlanta, GA; and Washington, D.C.

Musician Shamari is no stranger to the Real Housewives world, having previously been a housewife in RHOA season 11. The singer-songwriter spent only one season on the Real Housewives spin-off, despite being well-liked by audiences, and explained that she left for personal reasons. In an interview with Good Day Atlanta, Candiace explained she is excited to return to the state that helped her become the woman she is today, saying, “It was really important to me that Atlanta get a special welcome from me because this is the place that made me who I am. It’s the place where I learned to be a woman. I am a Southern girl at heart.”

While she may have the support of Shamari and her husband, it appears that drama within her friend group is far from over for Candiace. In the trailer for RHOP season 7, she appears to be feuding with her one-time friend Gizelle Bryant over the latter’s allegations that Chris made her uncomfortable. How the drama will play out, however, remains to be seen.

The Real Housewives of Potomac season 7 premieres October 9 at 8 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
