RHONY: Andy Cohen Psyched For In-Person Reunion After Covid-19 Ordeal

Andy Cohen, who hosts and executive produces The Real Housewives of New York City, finally got to reunite with his RHONY family in person. This comes after his recovery from COVID-19. Despite his recent infection, Andy is back. He’s more excited than ever to host the highly-anticipated RHONY reunion show.

Reuniting in person means worry and protocols, as the RHONY family has been deeply affected by the novel coronavirus. Back in March, during the early days of COVID-19, the host of Watch What Happens Live revealed that he had tested positive for the virus. The diagnosis put him in self-quarantine. It took awhile before he was able to return to his SiriusXM radio show. The RHONY cast and crew also mourned the loss of their editor, Peter Gamba. Andy claimed Gamba was be “the show’s life blood.”

With the effects of COVID-19 impacting the RHONY family, the in-person reunion comes with heartache and protocols, in addition to excitement. 52-year-old producer, Cohen, assured his fans that the show was taking the pandemic seriously and is implementing safety measures. “Everyone has to get tested. There’s very few crew. There’s very few people allowed. We’re all six feet apart,” he explained on Radio Andy. He added that “it’s not an outdoor venue, but it is definitely a spaced-out venue” (via Daily Mail). New York is also requiring travelers from states with a high number COVID-19 cases to quarantine for 14 days before entering the state. While special conditions are in place, it’s a happy occasion. On Instagram, Cohen shared his excitement with a photo of him holding the RHONY card and a face mask with the caption, “About to shoot our IN PERSON RHONY Reunion!! Putting on a suit and tie never felt so good…. Gonna be a great day!

On the same day as Andy’s announcement, former RHONY star Tinsley Mortimer revealed that she will be joining the group for the reunion, despite having quite the program. After four seasons, Mortimer left the show in order to relocate to Chicago and marry Coupon Cabin CEO, Scott Kluth. She appeared in season twelve, along with Dorinda Medley, Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, Ramona Singer and Leah McSweeney.

While is nerve-racking to see some of our beloved reality tv show stars get together in person during the pandemic, it’s encouraging and exciting to see a version of normalcy… and a return to one aspect of the pre-COVID lifestyle. With the coronavirus looming large for the RHONY crew, it’s comforting to know that they are taking the necessary precautions to avoid having another member of Real Housewives of New York City infected… and it will be delightful to see their familiar faces again, with new content.
