RHODubai: Caroline Stanbury Speaks Out About Husband’s Racist Tweet

Caroline Stanbury, from The Real Housewives of Dubai, has spoken out about her husband’s racist tweet. The no-nonsense Brit reacted to the uproar surrounding the resurfaced tweet and made her thoughts about Sergio’s intentions known during the series reunion. Other RHODubai castmates were by her side and could express their impressions.

Since its release in June of this year, The Real Housewives of Dubai has been met with mixed reviews among Housewives devotees. Chronicling the lives of the insanely rich women of the most populated city in the UAE, the show follows six different women as they live their lives in the luxurious city. Stanbury is hardly new to reality TV, appearing on Ladies of London and Watch What Happens Live before being cast in the new Housewives franchise.

Stanbury’s husband, Sergio Carrallo, recently came under fire when tweets from his past resurfaced and were brought up during the reunion, prompting Caroline to respond. A tweet from 2016 was uncovered where Sergio used the N-word, leading to reunion host Andy Cohen asking Stanbury about the incident. She responded that her husband was unprepared for the fame that accompanied being on a reality TV show and that Sergio was “the least racist person.” She added that he has since apologized for using the word and that he was unaware of the implications it held.

This isn’t the first time Sergio has been blasted by fans–he has also recently been criticized for comments regarding IVF and his overall lack of understanding of the female body. The former professional soccer player has shown his naïveté when it comes to pregnancy and birth multiple times while filming the franchise. The RHODubai couple is currently undergoing rounds of IVF to have a baby, but have been unsuccessful so far.

Sergio’s tweet provided a substantial talking point during The Real Housewives of Dubai reunion and multiple cast members expressed their own opinions about his use of the racial slur. Although castmate Caroline Brooks had said that “he didn’t apologize publicly, but he was apologetic,” Stanbury made it clear that there was no malice surrounding his use of the word and stated that he “apologized to whoever he thought he should.” Stanbury also emphasized her husband’s lack of understanding when it came to the pejorative term and reiterated that he wasn’t aware that his previous statements on social media would be poured over in such great detail by fans of the Bravo show.

The Real Housewives of Dubai: Reunion Part 2 premiers Sept 7 on Peacock.
