The former OG of The Real Housewives of Dallas, LeeAnne Locken, has revealed she is surprised that the Bravo network let her go so quickly. Now, she believes the franchise is boring.
Locken has been a controversial housewife from day one as she was always outspoken and often had trouble fitting in with the other women. During her last season on the show, she was made out to be a racist against her co-star Kary Brittingham who she called a “chirpy Mexican.” The newlywed made it clear in February of 2020 that she would not be returning to the show and wanted to concentrate on her other endeavors.
The former beauty queen took the time to sit down and chat with Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast, where she did not hold back her opinions about how the current season was going. After Locken and the host agreed that the show was feeling a bit boring, she explained that fans want to see people change and grow. But as the conversation continued, many were taken aback that Locken also identifies as Mexcian.
When the talk started to heat up, the reality star dove into the subject of her having to leave the show, trying to explain that in Texas, nationality is talked about often because they border Mexico and locals refer to people as “Mexican down here.” She insisted that they use the term a lot and that the “Hispanic people are fighting to have Mexican become a race, but it’s not.” She then stunned listeners by saying she and Brittingham were the same race, so how could she be “against my own race?”
Fans of the Bravo franchise know that there was a slight angry side to Locken after watching from the beginning, but many felt that she was known more for her good deeds within her community. The actress made it clear that she felt she was thrown under the bus, all in the name of a storyline. While she wouldn’t cross off ever coming back to a housewife show, she noted she would pick The Real Housewives of Potomac to give a go. While she acknowledged that the topic of race is a hot button topic, she is hoping to move on with her life and keep doing the good work she always did.
