It’s been a hard year for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast members Kathy Hilton and Kyle Richards, and it appears it’s going to take more time before the sisters start speaking again. The two have always had a relationship riddled with rivalry and family drama, fully re-emerging in RHOBH season 12 during a trip to Aspen. The getaway resulted in Kathy having an off-camera “breakdown,” as described by fellow housewife Lisa Rinna, who also had issues with Kathy throughout the season. Things finally came to a head between the sisters during the RHOBH season 12 reunion when Kyle broke down in tears feeling stuck in the middle of Kathy’s drama. Kathy has revealed that since the reunion, there hasn’t been much contact between them.
When Kathy was asked about her relationship with Kyle during the 2022 People’s Choice Awards, Kathy told Access Hollywood, “I have not talked to her in a while. We’ve texted, but I have not talked to her in a while.” Kyle was also on the red carpet and shared with Extra, “We could be better, but we are sisters and at the end of the day we always come together, but we could be better and that’s what I want, that’s what I need in my life, to feel good.” In spite of their issues, family and friends have hope that the two will eventually reconcile, but the situation has been especially difficult for Kathy and Kyle’s daughters Paris Hilton and Farrah Aldjufrie. Both Kathy and Kyle have shared that they would be willing to come together and discuss their issues, but the question of when remains.
Is RHOBH Taking A Break?
When asked by Extra if the show is on a pause, Kyle confirmed the news, but reassured fans by adding, “I think ‘pause’ is the word of the moment; it sounds more dramatic than it actually is. I think we just kind of want to shift our schedule.” Kyle also said that filming used to start in April and has changed over the years, but will be starting later for the new season. “People think there must be some drama, ‘they are starting late,’ it’s not that serious.” However, fans have speculated that Bravo may be pausing the show due to the last season having constant controversy, including bullying and racism towards Garcelle Beauvais and her son.
Lisa Rinna Had A Role In Kyle And Kathy’s Feud
At the forefront of the complaints is Lisa, with many calling for her to be fired after her actions throughout RHOBH season 12. Although Kathy found little support from her cast mates at the reunion, there is debate on the truthfulness of Lisa’s account of her off-camera breakdown in Aspen. The Melrose Place star has been involved in several feuds among housewives since joining the show in RHOBH season 5, the first famously being her feud with Kyle and Kathy’s third sister, Kim Richards, regarding Kim’s ongoing issues with alcoholism. Kyle notably didn’t come to Kim’s defense during the incident, and after her recent issues with Kathy, many fans now believe Kyle may have been playing the victim all along.
With a history as long and complicated as theirs, it will likely take time before a true reunion between Kathy and Kyle takes place. Now that The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has been confirmed to be on a pause, that reconciliation may be delayed even longer. Viewers are split between the women; some believe that Kyle’s behavior with both of her sisters is manipulative and cruel, while others feel that Kathy may not be so innocent. Hopefully, having a break from the show can give the sisters time to heal and confront their issues, away from other cast members inserting themselves into the situation.
