Teddi Mellencamp revealed that she found out she was fired from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills from the Daily Mail. The news came as a shock to the now former RHOBH star and fans alike.
Teddi was featured on RHOBH for three seasons. When she first joined the cast, she bonded with Lisa Vanderpump over their shared love of horses. The big dust up in her first season was with Dorit Kemsley over what stemware to use. In her second season, Teddi had a change of heart on her feelings towards LVP, as did LVP towards Teddi, and joined Kyle Richard’s side in the Puppygate scandal. Teddi was largely quiet during her last season, due to her pregnancy. However, the mostly low key Teddi managed to make her voice known when she dropped the bomb that Denise Richards allegedly hooked up with Brandi Glanville. With all the drama that caused, Teddi more than likely thought her spot on the show was secured. Instead, Teddi was let go, and she did not hear the news from Bravo first.
Teddi revealed the details on her podcast Teddi Tea Pod (via Us Weekly) as to how she learned she was let go from RHOBH. Teddi said, “The craziest part about it was, I think it was last Monday, I woke up, I was on the Peloton, and my non-television show girlfriends started texting me … it’s all over the Daily Mail that you’re no longer a Housewife.” Teddi then shared her thoughts as to why that decision was probably made and she should have picked up on it sooner. Teddi said, “I think for the last couple of months, I was preparing myself. I filmed so many amazing things that were never shown on the show…it should have been the writing on the wall. All the things that make me a likable, redeeming human being were not shown on the season. So if you only see a certain part of somebody, it’s really hard to connect with them.”
Teddi also discussed who she is still speaking to from RHOBH, and whether or not Andy Cohen reached out to her. Teddi said, “I did hear from Andy. He said [my] post was the most authentic departure post he’s ever seen.” That’s saying a lot, as Andy’s seen many departures. Regarding the cast, Teddi said, “I’m still on a group text with Erika [Jayne], Kyle, and [Lisa] Rinna, and there are days when I’m like ‘why do I feel sad today’. It really does feel like a breakup.” Teddi added, “I reached out to Dorit [Kemsley]. … We’ve had extreme highs and lows on the show, but [I told her] I wanted to let you know that I just want to wish you the best. Dorit has a good heart.“
Teddi not only took being let go well, she also managed to stay calm and collected when she first found out the news from the Daily Mail. Looking back on her time spent on the show, Teddi had some dramatic moments, but overall was mostly low key. Even Teddi admitted she should have seen it coming when Real Housewives of Beverly Hills did not show a lot of her life the past season. At least Teddi now has more time to spend with her family.
