New rumors suggest Kathy Hilton, Kyle Richards’ sister, might join the next season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Though she has made brief appearances on the show in the past, this time she could possibly join as a series regular, also known as “a friend” of the housewives. Fans of the show are no stranger to the tension Kathy has had in the past with her younger sister and OG cast member, Kyle. So, how could her casting affect Kyle?
Close sources claim Kathy has been in negotiations with the show’s production and is “definitely interested” in the offer. She would be the second sister of Kyle’s to join the show after her other older sister, Kim Richards, left in season five. The drama between the three sisters has often seeped into Kyle’s storyline on the show. During the season eight reunion, Kyle revealed that she hadn’t spoken to Kathy in almost six months. The two were at odds over Kyle’s American Woman show that detailed their life growing up with a single mom in the 70s. Kyle and Kim also had their quarrels together during their time on the show, some of which were disastrous to their relationship.
In addition to her famous sisters, Kathy is the mother of superstar socialites Paris Hilton and Nicky Hilton Rothschild. The mother of four, who also has sons Barron and Conrad, has plenty for the Bravo cameras to capture. Last year, there were rumors about her joining season 10 of RHOBH, TMZ reports. It appears she been toying with the idea of joining for some time. Thankfully, Kyle and Kathy have been able to work out their differences. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen last year, Kyle spoke highly about the possibility of Kathy becoming a series regular. A fan sent in a question, asking her if she wants her sister to join RHOBH. She replied, “I would be happy; I’ve had one sister on, why not have another sister on?”
If Kathy was to join the cast, Kyle could use the extra support. She received criticism from fans in season 10 over her involvement in the Denise Richards and Brandi Glanville drama. Kyle was accused of fueling the affair allegations and playing it safe when things came to a head. As of late, Kyle has also engaged in a few Twitter wars with her longtime frenemy and fellow housewife, Camille Grammer. The two got into a spat over Camille’s comments on Teddi Mellencamp’s diet program scandal.
While Kyle currently seems to be on good terms with Kathy, it’s been clear over the course of ten seasons of RHOBH that Kyle’s relationship with her sisters is anything but stable. While Kathy could provide a much-needed ally for Kyle, she could also be another voice adding to the constant criticism her sister receives. There is no confirmation yet on whether Kathy is ready to help her younger sister fight her battles next season. If she does join the cast, however, it seems like she’ll be welcomed with open arms (for now).
