Porsha Williams revealed on Sunday night’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta that she will soon be releasing her first book, The Pursuit of Porsha. In the book, she addresses everything from her relationships to her familial bonds. Porsha also wrote about her finances and past trauma.
Since Porsha joined the Bravo reality series, she has been a fan favorite amongst the viewers of the show. Viewers have seen her through a divorce, an engagement, and the birth of her baby girl, Pilar. Porsha has not only shown how much she has grown since joining RHOA, but also how she has become a staple in the franchise.
During Sunday night’s episode, the 39-year-old got on the topic of her book when she began talking about her late father, Hosea Williams II. Porsha opened up to her mother, Diane, and her sister, Lauren, about the absence of her father after he died and how that affected her when it came to dating men. She admitted that she never really identified with “daddy issues,” but realized that him dying during her formative dating years caused her to have this “skeleton idea of a man.” Porsha believes this may have caused her to enter into some abusive relationships. The mother of one had an exclusive interview with People last summer where she spoke about the book and how she will talk about her past trauma and difficult memories. The book will tell her intimate life story as she shares those memories and private tragic experiences, from secrets buried in her childhood to financial troubles, which have shaped her as a mother and business owner. She wants to show her readers how they can use their darkest of moments and use them to find the strength within.
The granddaughter of late civil rights activist Hosea Williams wants her reader to know the real Porsha and not just someone from a reality TV show. “I am more than a soundbite or a headline or a rumor,” she said in her statement. “I’m a strong Black woman who has triumphed over adversity and owned every single one of my mistakes. My story is a journey of passion, faith, and discovery.” Porsha began writing her book shortly after she joined the Black Lives Matter protests this past summer. Viewers of RHOA got to see Porsha on the fronts lines of the BLM movement, even being arrested twice for her efforts. She was first arrested back in June during a peaceful protest over George Floyd’s death at the hand of the police in Minneapolis, where she was also hit with tear gas. She was later arrested for obstructing a highway and disorderly conduct in Kentucky while protesting for Breonna Taylor, a Black woman who was fatally shot by officers multiple times inside her home. Her book, The Pursuit of Porsha, will be available in September 2021 through the publishing company, Worthy Publishing.
