Resident Evil Village’s Castle Dimitrescu Remade In Dreams

One Resident Evil Village fan recently managed to recreate Castle Dimitrescu in Media Molecules’ Dreams on the PlayStation 5. Capcom released RE Village last week to predominantly glowing reviews, but fan-made content started making the rounds long before the horror title hit store shelves.

Many of the fan-made projects circulating on the weapon revolve around the alluring Lady Dimitrescu. Cosplay of the countess continues to make the rounds, for example. A spoof commercial for a Lady Dimitrescu action figure built up quite a bit of online excitement, as well. And who can forget the incredibly eerie mod that turned the Castle Dimitrescu countess into Thomas the Tank Engine? Now it seems as though Castle Dimitrescu itself is beginning to receive more of the love, too.

Media Molecule artist Martin Nebelong recently took to Twitter to share his recreation of Resident Evil Village’s Castle Dimitrescu. Interestingly enough, the developer remade Lady Dimitrescu’s abode from scratch in Dreams on the PlayStation 5. Neither the lady of the castle nor her daughters appear in Nebelong’s preview video, but it certainly managed to set the tone. The roughly 90-second clip begins in the main hall, then progresses up the stairs, through another hall, and into a room with the cold wind blowing in. (Lady Dimitrescu’s daughters are bound to find the cold air most offensive.) Nebelong’s video ends with another quick look at the area around the staircase. Check it out in the following post:

It’s a stunning render, one that perfectly exemplifies the potential of Dreams and its baked-in creation tools. Thus far, Dreams creators have built impressive homages to The Mandalorian, Sonic the Hedgehog, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and countless other pop-culture mainstays. More realistic creations have also made the cut, including photorealistic environments and highly-detailed carpet textures.

Sony and Media Molecule launched Dreams in early 2020, taking the British developer’s impressive creation tools to a completely different level. It’s difficult to measure the game’s overall success to date, but the title most definitely made its mark on the creative side of the gaming community. Dreams has won a number of awards as well, recently earning a BAFTA for Technical Achievement.

Resident Evil Village is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S; Dreams is playable on PS4 and PS5.
