Resident Evil 4 Village Intro Is Stunning In Real Life Video

The first few moments of Resident Evil 4 have been almost perfectly replicated by an impressively detailed live-action fan video. This tribute to the beloved horror-action title comes right as the series is seeing a sort of revival, with remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 breaking onto the scene over the past couple of years, and rumors circulating that even Resident Evil 4 itself might be remade.

Resident Evil 4 is a rural European thrill ride that follows the story of Leon S. Kennedy as he aims to rescue the daughter of the United States President from a group of insidious cultists. Just like many of the earlier games in the franchise, Resident Evil 4 places a heavy emphasis on resource management and slow-paced gameplay – although many consider this entry to be the point where the games began to become more action-oriented. The so-called “tank-controls” made their return in Resident Evil 4, which essentially forced players to rotate the camera and the player character independently, rather than at the same time like with most contemporary games. Despite, or perhaps because of, these sorts of classic gameplay staples, RE4 is considered one of the best games in the series, even getting re-released on the Oculus Quest VR headset last year.

One of Resident Evil 4‘s many fans has made a short video that emulates lots of the iconic aspects of the 2005 classic, taking inspiration from the game’s intro and village scenes. The video comes from Redditor SuperLake97, also known as lake_skywalker on TikTok, and shows a real-life version of Leon Kennedy, complete with his signature jacket and mock-neck, as he makes his way through a forest on the outskirts of a remote village. Instantly recognizable inclusions from the game, such as UI prompts and voice lines from the enemies, make their appearance in this short clip. Even the now-retro tank controls and camera angles have been recreated, making for an impressive real-life version of the iconic game.

SuperLake97’s short film serves to highlight how far the Resident Evil franchise has come over the years. The first few games featured fixed camera angles, and Resident Evil 4 made major waves when it first launched in 2005 by implementing a behind-the-back camera perspective. Now, even that style of gameplay appears outdated next to the modern games, with both 7 and Village opting for first-person. It’s not clear what the future holds for Resident Evil 4, but any remakes or re-releases of the game will likely maintain at least some of the original’s charm and style.

While it’s still unclear whether or not Capcom is planning to soon announce whether Resident Evil 4 will get a remake, fan works like this one will continue to keep the game’s legacy alive. The attention to detail put forth by SuperLake97 and the other actors in the video could only have been achieved by truly passionate fans. Hopefully, this video won’t be the last of its kind, and as one of the most beloved horror games of all time, it seems unlikely that this will be the last fan recreation of Resident Evil 4.
