Resident Alien Season 3 Could Find Asta In Trouble Because Of Harry, Star Teases

With an extraterrestrial battle incoming, Alan Tudyk teases that Asta may be in trouble heading into Resident Alien season 3. The show based on the Dark Horse comic recently returned following the season 2 cliffhanger finale, in which saw the major revelations of Ben having been abducted by the Greys, the alien-human hybrid Joseph getting a job as a deputy in Patience, and Harry working with General McAllister to defend Earth from the Greys. Alan Tudyk returns to lead the Resident Alien season 3 cast alongside Sara Tomko, Alice Wetterlund, Levi Fiehler, Meredith Garretson and Linda Hamilton.

In honor of the show’s return, Screen Rant interviewed Tudyk to get some insight on Resident Alien season 3. When asked about the new dynamic between Harry and Asta heading into the new episodes, the star teased that the latter may actually find herself in jeopardy due to her relationship with the former, feeling that the Greys will look to target “vulnerabilities in Harry’s life” in order to hinder his war to save Earth. Check out what Tudky said below:

He’s venturing out away from his big sister/mom character. His caretaker. He’s finding his independence. She’s still there taking care of him because he falls down a lot like most kids do, but she’s giving him a little space. She’s there to help. This is a big thing. We ended season 2 with them deciding to take on The Greys. He was supposed to leave the planet. Harry was given a spaceship by The Greys.

He’s supposed to leave the planet and go away, and he decides, “No. I’m going to stay, and I’m going to fight for Earth.” And there’s a Grey hybrid alien in the town, and he is sniffing around to find vulnerabilities in Harry’s life there, and one of the biggest vulnerabilities is Asta—his love for Asta. So she’s wrapped up in it, and she’s there to help. And he’s going to need everybody. That’s one of the big messages that happens this season. You’ve got to come together.

Could Resident Alien Season 3 Be Setting Up Asta’s Death?

Despite being a show that skews towards the comedic side of its premise, the stakes have been steadily rising for the Resident Alien characters in recent episodes of the show. The season 2 finale, in particular, showed just how involved the Greys are willing to get in their planned conquest of Earth, abducting various people and experimenting on them, including Ben and Robert. The latter’s abduction was even more prudent given his father, Terry O’Quinn’s Peter, was murdered by Joseph earlier in the season in an attempt to save his son.

Tudyk’s comments further raise the concern that Resident Alien season 3 may ultimately be building towards Asta’s death in the impending conflict between humanity and the Greys. Should the new episodes indeed begin to build a gap between her and Harry as he enjoys some independence, it would make her more vulnerable to an abduction by the extraterrestrial threat. Joseph’s residency in Patience could also make it easier for her to be targeted for a hostage situation to coax Harry into leaving Earth.

Resident Alien: How The Syfy Show Changes From The Comics

Syfy’s adaptation of the Resident Alien comics introduces a delightful, comic twist to the original narrative. Here’s how the show changes the comics.

The one potential saving grace for Asta’s survival would be if Resident Alien elects to stay true to the overall arc of its source material, both in season 3 and beyond. The show has generally taken some major deviations from the comics, but one of the main threads it has retained is the relationship between Harry and Asta, who remained close friends before developing a romantic partnership by its end. It’s unclear how long the show is looking to run, or whether it will adapt this element, but if it does, Asta’s death would be a major change.
