Resident Alien Season 2: What Happened To Ethan?

Resident Alien Season 2: What Happened To Ethan?

WARNING! Contains SPOILERS for Resident Alien season 2 episode 1

SyFy’s Resident Alien season 2 premiered and Dr. Ethan Stone (Michael Cassidy) is still missing – here’s why. Resident Alien season 2 episode 1 sees Harry (Alan Tudyk) crash once more onto Earth, this time as a result of Max (Judah Prehn) wanting to get back home. While Harry slowly recovers his memory thanks to Asta (Sara Tomko) and finally rescues the octopus (voiced by Nathan Fillion), D’Arcy (Alice Wetterlund) is trying to piece together the strange events that are still happening in Patience, and this leads her to Dr. Ethan’s empty house.

In Resident Alien season 1 episode 10, government agents David Logan (Alex Barima) and Lisa Casper (Mandell Maughan) break into Max’s house and demand that Max tell them who the alien is. He misleadingly tells them it’s “the town doctor” they’re looking for – of course, Max knows Harry Vanderspeigle is no longer the town doctor, having been replaced by Ethan. After getting beaten by Max’s parents (with great effects on their marriage), David and Lisa rush to the Patience Health Clinic, where they apprehend Dr. Ethan, believing he is the long-sought alien. Lisa calls General McCallister (Terminator‘s Linda Hamilton), who takes Ethan away, telling David this is “bigger than anything you could imagine.

When D’Arcy goes to Dr. Ethan’s house to check on him in season 2 episode 1, she finds it’s completely empty. David Logan is hiding inside with a gun in his hand, but he clearly doesn’t want to have to shoot D’Arcy and he is deeply relieved when she leaves. But this is definitely not the end of D’Arcy’s investigation journey in Resident Alien season 2. Ethan has just missed a full day of work without notifying anyone, and it won’t be long before the Patience Police (the recurring cast from season 1) will get involved, too. General McCallister has had a lifelong dream of finding the alien that drove the ship she once saw as a child. She believes she found him in Dr. Ethan, so it’s very likely that the doctor is alive but in a place no one will find him unless McCallister wants them to. Ethan will very probably return to Resident Alien by means of McCallister’s investigation (and potential disappointment).

Resident Alien Season 2: What Happened To Ethan?

General McCallister is determined that this alien discovery by the military not be sucked into a “classified black hole.” She is willing to use extreme methods to achieve her goals, employing Lisa, which David describes as “an unhinged psychotic” and even ordering Lisa to kill David, so as to leave no trace (David escapes closely at the end of season 1, but he knows Lisa will be back for him in Resident Alien‘s season 2). Since McCallister hasn’t told her superiors what she is doing, it’s likely she is keeping Dr. Ethan in a very well-hidden place. But it won’t be long before McCallister discovers Ethan’s true identity and the situation is bound to escalate as it usually does in Resident Alien.

As McCallister and Lisa find out Dr. Ethan is a mere human, they will probably also put two and two together and realize it’s the former “town doctor” who is the actual alien. Resident Alien season 2 is not going to get any easier for Harry, with his ship turned into “a box of alien balls” and the government on his trail. It remains to be seen how Dr. Ethan will thus progress through the season, and if McCallister will show him kindness when she discovers he is not what she wants him to be.
