Reginald Tries To Pressure Maurice In Reginald The Vampire Season 2 Premiere Clip

Reginald the Vampire season 2 is set to bring new challenges, characters, and chaos to the small screen, and Screen Rant has a clip from the premiere episode. Based on a hit book series by Johnny B. Truant, Reginald the Vampire debuted in 2022 starring Jacob Batalon (The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man trilogy) as its titular character Reginald Baskin. With the first season seeing Batalon’s Reginald finally turned into a vampire, the second season jumps right into pitting him against powerful new foes.

Screen Rant is happy to debut a clip from Reginald the Vampire season 2 featuring a tense conversation between Reginald and Maurice, played by Mandela Van Peebles (Mayor of Kingstown). In it, Reginald encourages Maurice to accept a new mantle, and Maurice is less than excited by the idea. Take a look at the clip, and get ready to watch the return of one of Screen Rant’s top Halloween 2022 picks when it premieres May 8 on SYFY.

How Reginald The Vampire Season 2 Is Stepping Into New Genre Territory

Although the relationship between Maurice and Reginald is sure to be key to Reginald the Vamprie season 2, the show already promises to set itself apart from even the best vampire TV shows thanks to its inclusion of angels. The trailer for Reginald the Vampire season 2 leans heavily into the idea of a conflict between vampires and angels, which steps away from other tried-and-true vampire rivalries (i.e. werewolves). Even HBO’s True Blood, which featured everything from shapeshifters to maenads, chose not to include those heavenly beings.

The gravity of that conflict is a central aspect of Reginald the Vampire season 2, as revealed during a recent Jacob Batalon interview with Screen Rant. In that chat, Batalon states that the angels are coming to “wipe us all out” and states that the season is “a lot deeper and a lot more emotional.” Though Reginald the Vampire is a horror/comedy at heart and will surely retain its signature humor, it sounds as though the arrival of the angels will raise the stakes in a way not seen before in vampire series.

How that will play out on screen, however, is another question. Reginald the Vampire showrunner Harley Petyon revealed that the vampire/angel conflict will be slightly toned down from the source material. As Petyon stated, “we can’t afford a huge war with the angels.” This could mean that the conflict is centered more around specific characters and is more closely tailored to their specific flaws and desires. The season 2 trailer points to this by suggesting a love triangle involving Reginald, Sarah (Em Haine), and the angel Uriel (Max Montesi).
