As one of the most intelligent characters in the universe, Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four is often used as the benchmark for genius in Marvel Comics lore. But with allies like Iron Man and Black Panther, Mr. Fantastic is far from the only scientist within the House of Ideas. And one fan-favorite intellect has just proven that he can do the impossible – even when Reed Richards can’t.
Resurrection of Magneto #1 by Al Ewing, Luciano Vecchio, David Curiel, and VC’s Joe Sabino finds the X-Men icon Storm seeking a door to the afterlife. Ororo turns to none other than Blue Marvel for aid in her quest, with Dr. Brashear almost immediately finding a solution.
When Storm notes his casual demeanor, he tells her, “I’m sure Doctor Doom or Reed Richards would tell you that hacking the afterlife like that is impossible, but the impossible is where I like to start.” Usurpingly, Brashear makes good on his word and cements himself as one of Marvel’s most powerful intellects.

Blue Marvel’s Mind Is His Strongest Ability
Blue Marvel is undoubtedly one of Marvel Comics’ strongest heroes in terms of raw power, but it’s his intellect and out-of-the-box thinking that truly makes him so impressive. While Dr. Adam Brashear may not necessarily be smarter than other known geniuses like Reed Richards or Moon Girl, he simply refuses to play by the same rules that might limit his compatriots. After all, during his time as a member of the Ultimates, he helped transform Galactus from the Devourer of Worlds into the Life-Bringer – a feat Reed opposed due to his adherence to the natural order of the universe.
In this sense, hacking into the afterlife for Storm is no different than reforming Galactus. For Blue Marvel, it’s a question of whether something can be done as opposed to whether it should be, and this sort of genius definitely makes him one of Marvel’s most adaptable intellects. With this in mind, it makes perfect sense why he would be included in the new Supreme Intelligence, as fans can see in Rise of the Powers of X #1 by Kieron Gillen, R.B. Silva, David Curiel, and Clayton Cowles – he’ll see things that Reed Richards and the others aren’t willing to see.
Blue Marvel Is Willing To Take Risks
Blue Marvel may not be the first name fans think of when it comes to Marvel’s greatest geniuses, but he should definitely be in the conversation. While he may not be categorically more intelligent than Mr. Fantastic or Doctor Doom, he is more willing to bend the rules in ways that his fellow intellects may not expect. And even though Reed Richards’ mind has more than proven him worthy of his Fantastic Four codename, it’s a willingness to risk it all that gives Marvel Comics’ Blue Marvel the edge.
