Red Dead Redemption 2‘s Gunslinger quest is one of the first missions players receive from “strangers” and it pits Arthur Morgan against a handful of the Old West’s best gunslingers, so we’ve put together a helpful guide/walkthrough to get players through to the end. In order to start the mission, players first have to reach Chapter 2: Horseshoe Overlook (which is one of six chapters in Red Dead Redemption 2).
Once players have come down from the snowy mountain, they can start taking quests from the camp at Horseshoe Overlook. One of them will take players into the nearby town, Valentine. After completing that particular quest, then players should head to the smaller saloon (Keane’s Saloon) off the main street and speak to the writer Theodore Levin inside.

In doing so, players will start the Gunslinger quest – The Noblest of Men, and a Woman – in which they have to hunt down specific people and take their photos. (The following list of names aren’t in order of difficulty or distance but rather have been listed alphabetically.)
Billy Midnight’s Location in Red Dead Redemption 2
Billy Midnight is located at the Rhodes Train Station. Once there, get on board the next train and then head through the compartments until you see Billy Midnight at a bar. A chase sequence will begin after players approach him, and it will ultimately end on top of the train itself. Players will then engage in a duel with Billy Midnight, and defeating him will reward players with Midnight’s Pistol. Take his photo, and you’ll be done with his mission.
Black Belle’s Location in Red Dead Redemption 2
Black Belle is located in Bluewater Marsh, in the area near Rhodes. When players arrive at Black Belle’s homestead, she will request your help in defending the area from bounty hunters. There will be bount hunters both in front of the house and to the left. Multiple waves will appear, and it’s always best to take out the person manning the Gatling gun first. Once all of the bounty hunters have been defeated, take Black Belle’s photo.
Emmet Granger’s Location in Red Dead Redemption 2
Emmet Granger is located at a homestead near Flatneck Station around Flat Iron Lake. In order to complete this mission, players will have to first clean up Emmet Granger’s hog pen, and then afterward, duel him. Players will need to goad Emmet into a duel, and then kill him before he kills you. Once players defeat Emmet Granger, then take a photo of his body and the mission will complete.
Flaco Hernandez’s Location in Red Dead Redemption 2
Flaco Hernandez is located up in the mountains, north of the Grizzlies West. Completing Flaco’s mission is the toughest since he’s part of a gang and is surrounded by quite a few men. Players have the option of fighting them or simply threatening them to allow you through. Ultimately, players will come face to face with Flaco. After killing him, take his pistol as well as his photograph. Then, head into his cabin and look for the Poisonous Trail Treasure Map (this comes in handy later on).
Slim Grant’s Location in Red Dead Redemption 2
Although players are initially given four targets in Chapter 2, a fifth one unlocks during Chapter 4: Slim Grant. In order to find Slim Grant, first head back to the saloon in Valentine and find out where the biographer had gone to. Players will then head to the Grand Korrigan in Saint Denis, where they will be told about Slim Grant. From there, go to the sheriff’s office in Annesburg and speak to the sheriff, who will tell you that Slim Grant can be found at a bandit camp near Kamassa River (look at the map for a specific area). Head there and rescue Slim Grant from the bandits, then take him to the highlighted area on the map to complete the mission and the Gunslinger quest.
