Rebel Moon Stars Reveal 1 Spinoff Idea They Want To See

Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver!

Rebel Moon stars Djimon Hounsou and Staz Nair have revealed which character they believe should have their own spinoff following the events of Part Two: The Scargiver. The second half of the first planned story in the budding sci-fi franchise saw the varied main cast drive the Imperium away from the moon of Veldt. However, with all but two major characters surviving the final battle, the movie left lots of doors open for a wider franchise in the future.

Speaking with Collider, Hounsou and Nair explained how they would like to see a movie based around Hounsou’s General Titus following the ending of Rebel Moon – Part Two. The actors expressed interest in a spinoff where the disgraced military man has to deal with his demons, both his past in the Imperium and his alcoholism. Check out what Hounsou and Nair had to say about the spinoff idea below:

Djimon Hounsou: I just want to see how General Titus evolves in a redeeming fashion, because again, the likelihood that he, personally, was at the receiving end of committing a number of atrocities, I think that’s a trauma, that’s a haunting trauma. It would be nice to see that.

Staz Nair: It would be interesting to see because, obviously, I mean, I won’t speak for your character, but I feel like the alcoholism was a way of masking, and you said escaping the sobriety and what came with the sobriety. Obviously, there’s a level of us coming together and giving you enough strength or purpose to stop drinking. But I think you’re right; it would be very interesting to see where that clarity takes you. When you haven’t got something to fight for, when it’s safe for a week, what then happens? How do you then face those demons and traumas, and how do they come up? I think you’re very right. I’d love to see that, too. Spin-off!

Will A Rebel Moon Spinoff Happen?

The ending of Rebel Moon – Part Two sets the stage for a possible Rebel Moon – Part Three in the future, with Kora now aware Princess Issa is alive thanks to Titus’ intel. This indicates all the surviving characters will be trying to find her, though it’s unclear how long they’ll stay repairing the village before heading off on their next adventure. This could allow for enough downtime where Titus’ character can become a key focus as he wrestles with his new role on the team. This can be coupled with accepting his new friends, like Nair’s Tarak.

It’s unclear if the series will have a spinoff anytime soon, with Snyder focused on expanding the story through up to four more movies that continue the story after Part Two. However, he’s also expressed interest in a TV show about Balisarius, and is hoping to expand the franchise into multimedia – such as video games and animated shorts – as well. Given how extensive plans for the series already are, it’s possible another story about Titus set within the universe will come to fruition at some point.

However, bad reviews for Rebel Moon so far could spell trouble for Snyder’s expanded universe plans, as well as the possibility of a Titus spinoff. Depending on how well Part Two performed during its debut week, it could determine if the franchise has a future beyond its original story. Given the amount of potential the universe has if it gets fleshed out more, spinoffs could assist in building its universe. Even so, it will be dependent upon the success of what’s come before, and how Netflix proceeds with the franchise.
