The Rebel cast is led by Katey Sagal, but she’s far from the only recognizable star in the new ABC show. The new series Rebel was inspired by the life of Erin Brockovich, who was famously portrayed by Julia Roberts in Steven Soderbergh’s 2000 film Erin Brockovich. Created by former Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Krista Vernoff, Rebel stars Sagal as a California activist named Annie Bello.
In Rebel, Annie targets Stonemore Medical Corporation after her best friend Sharon dies from a faulty heart valve. She enlists Sharon’s lawyer husband, Julian Cruz, to take on numerous clients, and then urges her gynecologist son, Nate, to begin a new study about Stonemore’s questionable technology. In subplots, Rebel’s daughter Cassidy – a prosecutor – is recruited by her defense lawyer father, Benji, and Rebel’s youngest daughter Ziggie attempts to stay clean after struggling with an addiction problem. As Rebel forms a case against Stonemore, she discovers that her husband Grady plans to file for divorce, which will conveniently allow him to avoid financial responsibilities.
The Rebel cast features benefits from having a veteran actor like Sagal, who famously starred Married with Children. While the supporting cast includes some well-known younger performers, the main cast is anchored by prominent movie stars such as Andy Garcia, John Corbett, and Tamala Jones.

Katey Sagal stars as Annie “Rebel” Bello, an activist who targets Stonemore Medical Corporation because of faulty heart technology. Sagal portrayed Peggy Bundy in Married with Children and Cate Hennessy in 8 Simple Rules. She also starred as Gemma Teller Morrow in Sons of Anarchy and currently appears as Louise in The Conners.
John Corbett As Grady Bello
John Corbett co-stars as Grady Bello, Rebel’s third husband who files for divorce to avoid financial responsibilities. Corbett starred as Chris Stevens in Northern Exposure and Ian Miller in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Fans of Netflix’s To All the Boys movies may know him as Dr. Covey.
James Lesure As Benji
James Lesure portrays Benji, Rebel’s second husband – a defense lawyer – who recruits his daughter, Cassidy. Lesure portrayed Mike Cannon in Las Vegas and Gibbs in Men at Work. He recently appeared as FBI Agent Turner in Good Girls.
Tamala Jones As Lana
Tamala Jones appears as Lana, Rebel’s sister-in-law and a private investigator. Jones portrayed Nikki in the 1997 movie Booty Call and starred opposite Martin Lawrence in the 1999 film Blue Streak. She later appeared as Lanie Parish in Castle and recently portrayed Kat Miller in L.A.’s Finest.
Andy Garcia As Julian Cruz
Andy Garcia portrays Julian Cruz, a widower who grieves the death of his late wife, Sharon. As a lawyer, he’s enlisted by Rebel, who was Sharon’s best friend. Garcia starred as Vincent Mancini in The Godfather: Part III and later co-headlined the Ocean’s movie franchise as Terry Benedict. He had a small role in in the 2021 film Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar as Tommy Bahama.
