Last night’s episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac was definitely a must-watch of the season, especially when Dr. Wendy Osefo called Ashley Darby a “broke bug”. The first trip of the season, at Monique Samuels lake house, started off last week with an explosive fight.
The fight at the lake house kicked off when Ashley was questioned by Wendy about why she brought her 3-month-old son Dean along on the girls’ trip. Dr. Wendy did not bring her own baby girl Kamrynn who is the same age as Ashley’s son. Wendy was taking offence to this as she had welcomed her daughter two weeks after Ashley welcomed her son. Newcomer Dr. Wendy Osefo was clearly not having it with Ashley, and felt like Darby was using the excuse of being a new mother, which was not acceptable.
All About The Tea reported that Wendy Osefo proceeded to yell at Ashley while Darby was pretending to be on her phone. “You can’t call your car because your phone is disconnected — you b-r-o-k-e-y!” Ashley countered her by responding, “That’s stupid Wendy…that’s stupid.” From across the table, Wendy claps back at Ashley with, “I have four degrees, I’m not stupid….I have four degrees, I’m not stupid.” This upset Ashley. Darby was confused by Wendy’s response. Wendy continued on with the argument, by saying her infamous line, “You’re a bug — go away.” As Wendy repeated this line, she flicks her fingernails in Ashley’s direction.
According to BravoTV , the conversation escalated in the kitchen of Monique’s new lake house in Newburg, Maryland, not too long after everyone arrived, “I know how much I sacrificed and suffered to be able to be here. I pumped around the clock. I was pumping every two hours. I put milk in my freezer just so I could spend the weekend with you ladies and make sure I’m present,” Wendy tells the ladies. “So I know it can be done.” Monique didn’t even have an issue with Ashley bringing Dean and actually offered to bring him to the lake house, explained Ashley in an interview during the episode. Darby said that she had felt hurt by Wendy’s comments and did not appreciate her bringing up her son.
Ashley believes the issue stems from Wendy’s own insecurities, “Wendy’s projecting all of her insecurities onto me, and access denied. I’m not having that.” Wendy later clarified her comments, explaining to Ashley, “I am a new mom myself, so it touched a sensitive spot.” Ashley did not like how she brought her husband, Michael, into the “equation”. Wendy still did not feel like she owed Ashley an apology, which dragged out the major drama between them.
The “broke bug” comment Wendy made stemmed from Ashley bringing her son, Dean, on the girls trip, and Wendy later clarified in a Twitter post on August 30th that she was clearly overly upset about it and she wished would have been told she could bring her daughter Kamrynn if she wanted to. After last night’s episode, it seems like Ashley and Wendy from The Real Housewives of Potomac may be in a better place in their friendship.
