Ready Or Not 2’s “F–king Banger” Script Teased By Directors Amid Sequel Rumors

Ready Or Not 2 could prove to be a banger if the movie ever materializes, according to the directors involved in the project. The original movie Ready Or Not starring Samara Weaving was released in 2019, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and told the story of a young bride hunted by her fiance’s wealthy family as part of an ancient wedding tradition. Grossing $57 million against a budget of $6 million, the movie proved to be a commercial and critical success.

Despite four years since the original movie, Ready Or Not 2 has not been officially confirmed yet, but a promising update from Bettinelli-Opin and Gillett has given cause for optimism regarding the project. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Scream directors revealed that the script they have is bound to be an absolute “f–king banger,” and that they are hopeful the project will come to fruition. Read the directing duo’s full comments below:

It’s getting figured out. That’s what we’ll say: Ready or Not 2 is getting figured out. What we can say is that there is a script that is an absolute f–king banger of a sequel. And however it gets made, and in whatever capacity we are helping get it made, we are so excited that it’s happening. That movie is truly the love of our creative lives in a lot of ways.

Will Ready Or Not 2 Happen?

Why The Time Could Be Right For a Sequel To This Underrated Horror-Comedy

Ready Or Not 2’s “F–king Banger” Script Teased By Directors Amid Sequel Rumors

Ready Or Not 2 is still far from a done deal at this point, but the optimism from Bettinelli-Opin and Gillett is a good sign for the potential sequel. There are also suggestions that Samara Weaving could reprise her role from the first movie, but it is unclear how many other cast members would return for a sequel, but based on Ready Or Not‘s blood-soaked ending, it feels unlikely there would be many other returning stars. Whether or not Ready Or Not 2 does happen is still up in the air at this stage, but the time could be right for this long-awaited sequel to hit theaters.

Horror-comedy can always be hit-or-miss, but the original Ready Or Not movie was a fresh and unique take on what can sometimes be a stale genre. With the critical and audience acclaim, there will no doubt be an appetite for a follow-up movie, especially when it’s a film that could be made on a modest budget, with a high chance of box office success. While it’s unclear what the story might center on, it will likely follow what happens to Grace after the events of the first film, and there are many directions the filmmakers could take, including a possible link to the curse.

Another reason why the time could be right for a Ready Or Not sequel is the emergence of Bettinelli-Opin and Gillett as versatile and successful horror directors, having helmed the highly-acclaimed Scream 5, its follow-up Scream VI, and the recently-released Abigail. Their stock is rising with each movie, and it seems likely they will eventually get the green light to make Ready Or Not 2. For now, audiences can revisit the original and enjoy a fresh, unique horror experience.
