Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart’s Exclusive Deluxe Edition Armor Pieces

The upcoming Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is Insomniac Games’ big return to their 3D platforming franchise, and the developers have filled their new project with the same memorable weapons and characters players remember from past entries. It also has one notable new addition in the form of Rivet, a mysterious female lombax who has a part to play in the time travel shenanigans central to the game’s story. Those excited to see the story play out on June 11 may want to consider the game’s Deluxe Edition, which features a set of exclusive armors for use throughout the adventure.

First unveiled last summer, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has gotten a lot of fans excited for its impressive visuals and use of the PS5’s DualSense controller’s features. Along with the recent release of ReturnalRift Apart is starting to demonstrate why players might want to update their PlayStation 4s to the newer generation. Still, getting to explore Insomniac’s latest in the long-running Ratchet & Clank series is a pretty big incentive.

The Digital Deluxe Edition of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be available alongside the release of the full game this June for $79.99. Alongside a digital art book, a soundtrack download, and in-game upgrade materials, it features five exclusive armors for use throughout the game. The Scavenger, Imperial, and Android Armors are all for Ratchet, while the Rebel and Hacker Armors are for the newly introduced character Rivet.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart‘s Five Distinctive Pre-Order Armors

Ratchet’s armors generally cover his face and give him a more futuristic look, which could remind fans of Ratchet: Deadlocked from the PlayStation 2 days. In fact, both the Android and Imperial armor pieces feature mechanical replacements for Ratchet’s ears and tail, making him a fully robotic protagonist just like his pal Clank and complemented the series’ futuristic weapons. Meanwhile, Rivet’s Hacker Armor features a visor that covers her eyes and emits a distinctive pink glow. That color stretches to the rest of the outfit, including the glove on her left hand clutching her trademark hammer. Her Rebel Armor is more traditional-looking and goes hand-in-hand with her background as a resistance fighter.

A new Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart-themed State of Play, which goes into more detail about the upcoming release, may even feature some gameplay with Ratchet’s new duds. Whether players are rocking one of the five Deluxe Edition armors for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart or just enjoying the base game, there’s plenty to be excited about when the game releases on June 11.
