Rapper Logic Signs 7-Figure Exclusivity Deal With Twitch

After announcing he would be retiring from the rap-game, world-famous pop-icon Logic has signed a seven-figure streaming deal with Twitch. Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, aka Logic, will be streaming weekly on his channel, where he will host Q&As, in-studio production sessions, and a whole lot of gaming.

It’s no secret that Logic is a bit of a gamer having appeared on stream with popular streamers such as Ninja and Myth. His bio on Twitch reads “playing games and being a dad!” and while being a dad sounds wholesome, viewers will likely be tuning in for his Call of Duty gameplay. Recently Twitch has grown to include various musical artists that bring non-gaming related content to the platform. Artists such as Deadmau5 have used the platform to showcase both their gaming and musical related talents.

Logic has been an active member of the Twitch community since the end of 2019, and now he will be expanding his variety of content to attract more viewers to the platform. His musical content will provide a new way for Logic to interact with fans of his music, while still producing content for members of the gaming community. Logic has signed a very lucrative deal valued at over $10 million with Twitch in hopes to bring a new demographic of viewers to the platform.

The Twitch community brings this amazing group energy that you don’t really get anywhere else. It’s something that we crave as artists but has been especially hard to come across the last few months. I want my Twitch channel to be a place of creation but also collaboration, and I know the Twitch community is going to love what we’ve got planned. I’m stoked to be able to work with the team at Twitch and open up my world to fans in this way.”

While musical artists are no stranger to streaming on Twitch, they aren’t necessarily the most viewed streams. Twitch has handed out similar deals to some of the platform’s largest streamers like Timthetatman and Dr. Lupo, each having a few million followers and 10s of thousands of viewers per stream. Although Logic is a multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated musician who is hailed as a symbol of hope on the internet, he currently only has 59.6K followers. For having a Twitch channel for a little less than a year that would seem like phenomenal growth, but the numbers seem a little weak for being a music icon.

It seems as if Twitch’s deal is riding on the hopes that Logic’s name alone will pull a large viewership to the platform. Logic’s first stream is slated for July 21 and it is planned to be a live listening to Logic’s new album, No Pressure. This could be a dangerous move for Twitch as their platform’s viewership is mainly gamers watching gamers. By creating this deal, Twitch has taken a big risk by dumping millions of dollars into a musical artist who could or could not draw a large number of viewers. As with most big debuts, Logic will probably draw a few thousand viewers for his first couple of streams, but Twitch will see if their investment paid off if Logic is able to maintain his viewership over the next couple of months.
