The typewriter puzzle in Psychonauts 2‘s main story level, “Cruller’s Correspondence,” may stump a few players, as its solution is missing a few “key” items that the player must find. With its bustling post-office environment of letters, stamps, and packages floating about the room, the level may appear intimidating. To solve this area’s puzzle in Psychonauts 2, players must help deliver a letter to someone Agent Cruller knew in the past.
From a glance, it may seem like it will take a long time to beat this Psychonauts 2 level. However, the puzzle’s solution is reasonably straightforward and requires little effort. The typewriter that Raz will use has a few missing letters. The player must find these buttons to type out the name of the unaddressed letter’s recipient. Some of the letter keys are easy to find, and others are slightly hidden.
To solve the typewriter puzzle in Psychonauts 2, Raz needs to locate the typewriter’s four missing keys. Using Raz’s Psi-Power Telekensis power in Psychonauts 2, the player must find each button, carry it over to the typewriter, and place it in its correct spot. The first is the letter L, which can be found atop an envelope to the far left of the level’s entrance. Pick up the L and head down to the giant typewriter below. To avoid taking fall damage, consider using Raz’s Mental Connection ability to safely go to the desk.
Solving the Typewriter Puzzle in Psychonauts 2
Fortunately, the rest of the typewriter puzzle’s hidden key locations in Psychonauts 2 are not too difficult to find. The next letter that Raz will need is U, which sits in the dark left-hand corner of the typewriter. Pick it up and place it in a vacant plot on the machinery. Keep in mind that the order or placement of these buttons doesn’t affect the puzzle’s solution.
Players can find the next missing button out in plain sight in front of the giant typewriter down at the far right-hand side of the desk. Pick up the C and place it in an empty spot on the typewriter. Players shouldn’t worry if they accidentally drop or throw the letter keys out into the swirling void of mail since the buttons will respawn immediately and for an infinite amount of times.
The final missing key, Y, can be found in a hole at the far right-hand side of the typewriter. Once the Y has been placed, type out the name, “LUCY” using Raz’s ground-pound ability. Typing out this name will complete the typewriter puzzle, and a cutscene will trigger with Psychonauts 2 Agent Cruller recalling his emotional memory of his long-lost love.
