PS5, Xbox Series X Back In Stock At Walmart Canada On December 3

Stock for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles will return to Walmart Canada’s online storefront in a couple of days on Thursday, December 3. This news of forthcoming stock availability comes amid unprecedented demand for new consoles. Unfortunately, said demand has been beset by limited stock the world over and a number of scalper groups that have saw fit to abuse online ordering systems with unsavory schemes and bots for resell purposes.

It’s no secret that countless customers around the globe have found themselves clamoring for Microsoft’s and Sony’s recently released next-gen hardware. Pre-orders were notoriously difficult to secure in the few weeks leading up to launch, and the act of buying a new console has not gotten any easier since each device’s November release. Fortunately, those who’ve previously had no luck in acquiring new hardware will soon receive yet another chance to possibly get an order to go through.

On its dedicated gaming account, Walmart Canada informed Twitter users that stock will be available to purchase on Thursday, December 3. PlayStation 5 orders will go live that day at 11:00am EST. Meanwhile, Xbox Series X orders are scheduled to follow suit not too long thereafter at 12:00pm EST. According to the post, customers can only place their orders online. Perhaps due to the ongoing issues with organized scalpers, Walmart also plans to ensure there is a strict one purchase per household limit in place. Because of the high demand, potential buyers have been notified that shipping will likely take some time, but they’re expected receive their items in time for Christmas, however.

In a subsequent tweet, the retailer clarified that incoming stock will include PlayStation 5’s Digital Edition, as well as the Xbox Series S. Customers interested in the two alternate SKUs can order them during the respective time slots for PS5 and Xbox Series X later this week.

New stock for PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S consoles arriving just in time for Christmas seems like a boon for both the hardware manufacturers and fans. Also worthy of note is Walmart Canada’s stated intention of limiting the number of orders per household. It’s a small step towards suppressing the success rate of scalpers, especially since there seems to be exploitable workarounds. Still, this move warrants recognition as a good step nonetheless.
