Known as the third member of the Property Brothers, JD Scott recently got married in untraditional Halloween wedding to his fiancée Annalee Belle Dunn. Not only was their wedding day unique, the Property Brother did something extra special for his bride that most men have never thought of doing – taking Annalee’s last name.
The eldest Scott brother regularly appears on his siblings’ HGTV shows, including Brother vs. Brother and Property Brothers: At Home. After a long battle with a mysterious and rare illness, JD decided to pop the question exactly one year prior to the wedding on October 31st, 2018. Celebrity makeup artist Annalee said yes, of course, and the two immediately began planning their dream wedding that would take place on October 31st, 2019. After Annalee found the perfect dress, the couple were ready for their big day.
The Halloween wedding was as unique as the bride-to-be. They used the holiday as a theme for their wedding as the guest dawned Halloween costumes, and was urged by the bride and groom to go all-out for the occasion. The two groomsmen were his twin brothers, the faces of Property Brothers – Jonathan and Drew Scott. New Girl star, actress Zoey Deschanel attended the wedding as Jonathan’s plus-one dressed as Catwoman and Jonathan dressed as Batman. Zoey posted all about the beautiful wedding on her Instagram, congratulating the happy couple. The wedding was a mix of both bride and groom and the only element that was traditional was Annalee’s white bridal gown. The wedding was a big event but it had the feel of a backyard wedding. The unpretentious and fun wedding had a 1940’s and ’50’s retro movie theater theme. The wedding which was held at a private home in Las Vegas included a ’50’s candy shop, absinthe fountain lounge, a photo booth trailer, concession stands serving nachos and hotdogs, and synchronized swimmers. To Annalee, the most touching part of the ceremony was when her groom told her that he would be taking her last name along with her taking his. She captioned the photo of her and JD sharing a kiss, “Mr. and Mrs. Dunn Scott.” The couple took both of each other’s last names legally as Dunn Scott. She wrote, “This gem of a human, [JD Scott] has taken my last name as well since I am taking his.” She continued, “I had no idea he could blow me away even more than he already has, but he did. When he told me he was going to add Dunn, I couldn’t hold back tears.” The makeup artist was brought to tears by the gesture, saying, “So few men would do something so untraditional, but JD knows how important my family is to me as well as not giving up my identity.”
The most untraditional part of their backyard shindig was the fact that JD decided to add his bride’s last name to his. Congratulations to the happy couple Fron here on out the Property Brother, JD will be known legally as JD Dunn Scott.
