“Predator Stasis Farms”: The Predators’ Darkest Secret Is Finally Exposed, Changing the Franchise Forever

Comic book writer Ed Brisson’s pivotal contributions to the Predator franchise will continue in the upcoming Predator: The Last Hunt miniseries, which will expand further on the lore established in his previous take on the iconic alien hunter-killers: with the revelation of “Predator Stasis Farms,” where the Yautja hold prisoners to use in later hunts, Brisson changed the franchise forever, and now he gets to keep unraveling those story threads.

Speaking with AIPT, Ed Brisson confirmed The Last Hunt will once more focus on protagonist Theta, a human hunting Yautja on a mission of vengeance. Marvel’s “Predator” Has Redefined Yautja Lore

Traditionally, the Yautja depicted in the Predator franchise have operated, at least to some degree or another, according to some form of honor code – while their values, and their logic, may be as alien to human beings as their appearance, on at least some level, human characters within the franchise have been able to recognize that there is some degree of gamesmanship, so set of rules, governing their intergalactic hunting expeditions. The iconic Predator species has also typically been depicted killing for sport during designated encounters on various other worlds – only recently did Marvel’s Predator reveal an industrial aspect to their hunting operation.

Ed Brisson’s Predator (2023) #1 – with art by Netho Diaz – astounded readers by revealing that beyond simple hunting expeditions, the Predators routinely abduct prey to stock their game preserves back home. Now, in his follow-up series, Predator: The Last Hunt, Brisson sets his human protagonist Theta on a trajectory for a final, major confrontation with the Yautja, as she is determined to free the many beings trapped in stasis, waiting for their turn to be hunted and killed for the Yautja’s satisfaction. “The stakes are higher than they’ve ever been,” the writer told AIPT, in anticipation of his third Predator installment.

Whether her mission to liberate the Yautja Stasis Farms ends in triumph, or tragedy, it will make for perhaps the most fist-pumping, exhilarating installment of Marvel-era Predator comics yet.
