Predator Is Done Playing: Super Predator vs Ultimate Hunter Promises the Franchise’s Most Consequential Fight

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Predator: The Last Hunt #1 A hunt that has been building in Predator canon for years is finally on the horizon, as the Super Predator vs Ultimate Hunter matchup is about to begin. Theta has killed more Predators than anyone in the history of the franchise, making her the unarguable Ultimate Predator Hunter. However, even after the dozens of Yautja she’s slain, Theta has never gone up against a Super Predator before. At least, until now, and the stakes have never been higher.

AIPT Comics shared an exclusive preview for Predator: The Last Hunt #1 by Ed Brisson and Francesco Manna. In it, fans get a first look at the upcoming series, where the rising tension leading to the ultimate conflict can be felt through the pages themselves, creating a surge of anticipation among the Predator fandom.

The cover alone shows the menacing danger of the Super Predator, as they sit comfortably in a tree alongside gruesome alien beasts that have been either weaponized by the Predator, or are simply too smart to attack them. Once readers flip to the inside of the comic, the Super Predator’s deadliness is put on full display, as it easily slaughters a horde of Cthulhu-esque creatures before looking out at the seemingly endless rows of stasis pods containing countless living organisms. The preview ends with Theta suiting up in her Predator armor, ready to end this horror once and for all.

“Thousands” of Lives Hang in the Balance in Predator: The Last Hunt

Not only did AIPT Comics share a preview of Predator: The Last Hunt #1, but the site also included an interview with Ed Brisson speaking on what fans can expect from the upcoming series. Brisson touches on how excited he is to continue working on the Predator franchise, and he reveals that Theta’s mission this time won’t be one of vengeance, but redemption.

Ed Brisson: Theta has been carrying a lot of guilt over the events of the last arc and has made it her mission to find the Predator Stasis Farms and free the hundreds (thousands?) of prisoners being held for the Predators’s hunting pleasure.

The preview revealed that the Super Predator is at the Stasis Farm that’s holding potentially thousands of people destined to die horrific, grisly deaths, and writer Ed Brisson revealed that it’s Theta’s mission to save them. That means Theta will have to kill this Super Predator in order to save the lives of thousands, and if she fails, she knows each one of them will die.

Predator: The Last Hunt is a Story About Redemption, Not Vengeance

Theta cutting a Predator's head off.

Theta’s first Predator arc was about vengeance, as she was obsessed with finding the Predator who slaughtered her family, all while killing any Predator that stood in her way. But then, Theta realizes that killing Predators was about more than her own personal vendetta, and that generations of humans have been, and are being terrorized by these alien menaces. Theta learns this after coming across a hunting preserve world where people are first held in stasis for upwards of decades before they are finally chosen as prey – and she fails to save them.

Theta’s previous failure in saving those captured by Predators is what’s driving her in this new series. To do that, to save all these people who would otherwise be fated to die horrible deaths, Theta will have to face a Super Predator in a showdown that promises to be the most consequential fight in Predator history.
